This resort is shabby for their advertised five-star rating. The food is mediocre, the portion sizes are very small, and you're constantly harassed by asinine resort rules that make no sense. The resort and rooms are run down. The toilets are cheap, the bathrooms need caulking, the baseboards are broken and cracked, the finish on the doors is old and worn out. The air conditioning is extremely weak in the common areas. There aren't enough fans outside. You can't really get breakfast after 10:00 a.m., and if you do you're expected to wear a shirt with sleeves even though you're in the tropics trying to have breakfast. The staff is generally not well trained in hospitality. If you get one of the preferred rooms, you get access to a bar with higher end liquor, which sounds great but it's really annoying when you realize that instead of just having a wristband to indicate that you're allowed to drink the good stuff, you have to hike up the hill and go back to your little secluded bar to replenish your drinks. So unnecessary. They have a shuttle service to take you up and down the hills and get around the resort, but the shuttle take so long that you regret not just walking by yourself. On two occasions I called the shuttle and it simply never showed up.

Why is Costa Rica good for all-inclusive vacations?

Costa Rica is a thrilling destination where you'll find a wide variety of things to see and do if you're interested in outdoor adventure. When you spend all day exploring, it's nice to be able to get pampered and relax when it's time to retire for the day, and that's exactly what you’ll enjoy when you book all-inclusive vacations here. You'll find meals provided for you, so you'll always be nourished and ready for the next adventure, whether you're trying a delicious breakfast or capping off the day with a professionally prepared dinner.

What are some of the best spots for all-inclusive vacations in Costa Rica?

Costa Rica is packed full of unforgettable destinations, and the hardest part of planning may be deciding where exactly you want to go. If you favour a more laid-back atmosphere, you may want to book your stay in CahuitaOpens in a new window. It's famous for the black-sand beaches that make it easy to relax. Of course, a trip to San JoseOpens in a new window tends to be much more energetic, with easy access to outdoor adventure and plenty of opportunities to explore local history in the city.

What to expect from an all-inclusive vacation in Costa Rica

During an all-inclusive vacation in Costa Rica, you can expect supreme relaxation among the country's stunning beaches, and you'll find many family-friendly all-inclusive resorts. Golf is also common, so you'll always have plenty to enjoy from an all-inclusive resort here.

What are some benefits when booking an all-inclusive vacation?

When you book an all-inclusive vacation, you'll have the benefit of knowing the cost of the entire trip in advance. This makes it notably easy to keep your 2026 budget in check without having to worry about any surprise costs during your trip, as your activities, food and accommodation will already be taken care of. Plus, an all-inclusive vacation offers the freedom to simply enjoy everything that your booking covers as you see fit whether you want to explore every inch of your resort or simply relax on the beach all day.

Can I book an all-inclusive vacation with airfare and meals?

Airfare and meals are easy to get in conjunction with your all-inclusive vacation to Costa Rica, with meals, in particular, being fairly standard. You can check any all-inclusive resort or accommodation page to see exactly what kind of meal plan they have available. Booking your flight alongside the accommodation is easy as well, as Expedia is your one-stop shop for it all. In fact, booking a package deal with an all-inclusive trip including airfare could lead to savings of up to 26%.

Why should I book a Costa Rica all-inclusive vacation that's adults-only?

By booking an adults-only all-inclusive vacation to Costa RicaOpens in a new window, you can relax among the soft sands and inviting beaches in quiet tranquillity without any children running around or splashing by the pool. Every aspect of the experience is defined by peaceful relaxation except for the parts that are meant to be a bit more upbeat, such as the onsite nightclubs that several adults-only resorts in Costa Rica have.

Can I book all-inclusive packages?

Packages are among the best ways to experience all-inclusive vacations, and they allow you to truly enjoy the benefits of all-inclusivity by booking everything from your experience to your flight in advance. Prices may even get better the closer you get to your travel date, so having flexible travel dates is always useful when booking packages.

Can I book cheap all-inclusive trips?

Yes, cheap vacations that are all-inclusive are easy to find if you sort your search results by price, as that will automatically put the most affordable options at the top of your search results. Remember, the sort-by-price feature is available no matter what other filters you have activated, so you can search for cheap all-inclusive vacations to Mexico and Central America even if you plan on filtering for 4- or 5-star accommodation options. A wide range of options is available, with the cheapest being around CA $1,057.

What should I look for with 5-star all-inclusive vacations?

When booking a luxurious 5-star, all-inclusive vacation in Costa Rica, you'll want to look out for high-end amenities that can make your vacation unforgettable, such as infinity pools and spa facilities. Look at Hotel Riu Palace Costa RicaOpens in a new window, for example, which offers an all-inclusive experience defined by 4 outdoor pools, a sauna, windsurfing and a full-service spa. Secrets PapagayoOpens in a new window is another great option that's adults-only with 4 restaurants onsite, beach yoga, a full-service spa, pilates classes and a steam room.

What goes into a good family-friendly all-inclusive vacation to Costa Rica?

Costa Rica vacation packages that are all-inclusive for the family feature activities and amenities that adults and kids alike can enjoy, including pools, kids' clubs and game rooms. CC Beach Front HotelOpens in a new window boasts soundproof rooms, a special kids' pool and toys and games available for your little ones. Bahia del Sol Beach Front Boutique HotelOpens in a new window goes so far as to offer babysitting services in addition to extra beds and a kids' pool.

How can I find the best deals on all-inclusive vacations?

To find the best deals, you'll want to take advantage of Costa Rica's off-season, which typically runs from early summer to mid-December. The summer heat and relatively frequent rains keep package prices relatively low, as availability is much more widespread compared to the busy season.

Can I book an all-inclusive package that's fully refundable?

Yes, some all-inclusive packages are fully refundable, and you can tell which qualify by looking for the green text marking them as such on your search results page. You may also want to filter for this specifically if it's something you'd rather not book without.

Why should I book an all-inclusive package vacation with Expedia?

Booking with Expedia makes it easy to cover multiple aspects of your vacation at once, including flights, accommodation and activities, with potential package discounts available as well. If you're an Expedia Rewards member, you may be entitled to additional savings by earning points on every eligible purchase that can then be put towards discounts on subsequent trips. Membership is free, so don't hesitate to join.
