"The view here doesn’t disappoint. This boutique hotel isn’t very big which is great because you never feel like you are fighting for access to pool chairs or lunch/dinner tables. It’s very private. We stayed in a top floor which did have a very open room meaning the toilet was in plain view as well as the shower. In that aspect we didn’t care for too much but everything else was great. The food and drinks were good and the dock was within a 3-4 minute walking distance if you wanted to take a boat to another town. The staff at the hotel is very polite and always eager to assist. They also have a private and shared car services in the event you wanted to travel to Antigua or elsewhere. There is a bar next door that does play music until about 1030-11pm most nights. I would stay here again. "

"We loved our stay at Refugio del Volcan. We’ve been travelling through Central America for c 8 weeks and this accommodation stands out as one of the best. We had the apartment unit at the top, which has the most incredible views of the lake! The accommodation was very comfortable and quiet at night for a great night sleep. The kitchen was well equipped and nice hot shower in the bathroom. It’s a fair distance from San Pedro town centre but walkable, and very easy to get a Tuktuk to and from the town for circa 20Q. We couldn’t fault our stay and would totally recommend to other travellers! "
