"The staff were very friendly and helpful and I would stay at The Crown again without hesitation, however as I am disabled there are not enough parking spaces available for disabled guests staying at the hotel. The bays at the front of the hotel (3) were, at most times occupied by non blue badge holders."

"Philip and his wife Nikki have a wonderful Hotel and are lovely people! Our room was tidy, comfortable, quiet, and had small touches like complimentary tea and cookies that were so appreciated and enjoyed by us. I had the best sleeps I had on our entire 2-week stay while here, so much so that I missed breakfast unfortunately--(my fiancé made it though and said the food was delicious also). If we are ever in the area again, we will be back. Thank you for the fantastic experience!"

"A lovely hotel with many original features.
The dinner and breakfast were lovely, there was a nice selection of both.
The room was great and plenty of plugs to charge devices.
I liked the lounge/bar area with a wide selection of books and games available for patrons.
It's very well located for trips to Battle itself and Hastings.
Would very happily stay here again."

"Room was pet friendly, staff were great, decor in room a bit tired but not enough to putting us off staying again,
Bathroom door could fit better.
Food was very good."

"Clean and comfortable room for a short stay. Adequate breakfast. Good location in terms of walking down to the seafront. Would note for travellers with accessibility issues the hotel is at the top of a very steep road so may not be suitable for mobility aid users."

nice staff, clean washroom, good tv channel selection. If this were around during 1066 I'm pretty sure Willy the Conqueror would tell his Norman Bros to backoff.

Lovely B&B. Stayed in room #4 for one night. Room was large. Bed comfortable and linens great. View from room (5 big windows) was picturesque. Literally a minutes walk from De La Warr Paviliion. Didn’t stay for breakfast as had flight to catch. Would highly recommend and would stay again.

We stayed here for two nights -- and I wish I was there for a week! Beautiful boutque resort right on the water.. incredibly friendly staff, good food options -- nothing beat the view or the patio overlooking the shore. Rooms were clean, beds were incredibly comfortable.

We liked this Inn the first time we stayed there in May that we decided to book again. Stayed in a different room but was equally happy with the space as the first time. Would highly recommend. Dave and Val are great hosts.

Charming, quirky, old property. Lovely room & tasteful decor. Modern bathroom. Delicious breakfast. The bed was a tad creaky as well as a little soft. The hotel was in a beautiful wooded setting with a view of the sea in the distance. Ask for a room facing the sea as the rooms on the other side look at rooftops. The hotel is actually in Overstrand not Cromer.

This hotel is gorgeous! Food was delicious! Highly recommend.
We had been traveling for 3 weeks in the UK and France. This was the only hotel to provide luggage racks! And not just one, but two! As a senior, having to sit on the floor to locate things in my suitcase each day is not easy. This simple addition was much appreciated. Finally, a facecloth! Two would have been better for two people but I was happy to have one at all. I don’t understand why they are considered a personal item in...

Our room was newly-renovated with a lovely, large bathroom. Our hosts were friendly and helpful and the pub was excellent. Would definitely stay again!

Our host Nick was a delight and made all the difference in our stay. The effort put into his guests and the property was evident with a warm, welcoming and very well attended property - the care and attention given to the guests and to the property is very evident. Loved the visit Nick!

I loved the view out the windows, and the breakfast was delicious. The room was clean and neat and new. The 60 stairs were a lot with our luggage but thankfully I have a very fit husband! We will be back some day.

Where to start? Adri and The New England were amazing! Such a welcoming and gracious host - always remembering our names and so helpful. Breakfasts were amazing and we felt so at home. Adri even volunteered to do some laundry for us!! It was the best stay of our 3 week Ireland dnd UK vacation.

Really enjoyed our stay. The Victorian building has plenty of character, the room was very clean, and everything felt well looked after. Breakfast was excellent, and the cocktails were fantastic! A comfortable, relaxing place to stay, and we’d happily come back. :)

The best area to stay in Wartling is Wartling itself, as it's a small, rural village, with accommodation options concentrated within or very close to its centre.
Wartling is a compact village located in the East Sussex countryside. It's characterised by its traditional English village green, the historic St. Mary Magdalene church, and a scattering of period cottages and homes. The main road, Boreham Lane, runs through the heart of the village, connecting it to nearby larger towns. It's a place where you'll find peace and quiet, surrounded by rolling fields and woodlands.
Couples looking for a tranquil escape will find Wartling ideal. The village offers a chance to unwind, take leisurely strolls along country lanes, and enjoy the natural beauty of the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It's superb for those who appreciate a slower pace and want to explore the local footpaths.
Families will also appreciate Wartling for its peaceful setting and access to outdoor activities. With plenty of open space, children can enjoy the freedom of the countryside.
When is the best time to go to Wartling?
The best time to visit Wartling is during the warmer months, specifically from late spring (May) through early autumn (September), when the weather is most pleasant for exploring the East Sussex countryside.
These months offer the most reliable conditions for enjoying outdoor activities and the region's natural beauty. You can expect longer daylight hours and generally milder temperatures, making it ideal for walks, visiting local attractions, and dining al fresco. For those planning a tranquil escape for two, these months provide a great backdrop for romantic strolls through gardens or along the coast.
Summer (July and August) is particularly popular for families. The extended daylight means more time for children to enjoy outdoor spaces and local family-friendly attractions. Many local events and country fêtes also take place during this time, offering a taste of rural English life.
