The Thayer Hotel at West Point

10/10 Excellent

"Check in was easy and the desk clerk very helpful. She put us in a room with a lovely view of the river and gave us coupons for breakfast for both days of our stay and it was a lovely breakfast buffet with many options. The on-site bar and restaurant were both very welcome choices in the unusually high heat; allowing us to avoid going out. They advertise that the rooms are being refurbished as part of their 100th anniversary. The furniture in ours had probably not yet been replaced, but it was solid and clean just showing some wear. The all-important mattress was great, firm and comfortable. We appreciated the valet parking that was included in the room price as the parking lot was a good distance down the hill from the entrance."

"The woman at the front desk was incredibly friendly, polite and helpful. I was sad to see that she appears to be so short staffed that I saw her trying to manage different areas at different times. The room was clean and comfortable. The pool was a bit ‘cloudy’ so maybe increasing the frequency of the cleaning protocols would be helpful."

"Unfortunately the air conditioning was not working when we arrived. The staff told us before we checked in & we had the option to go elsewhere. We decided to stay because tge location was perfect for us. The parking garage was very clean & felt safe being there. The staff was outstanding, always available when needed. They did ensure that we had a room air conditioner in tge room & also a fan if needed; we had both on the second day."
