Highly recommend this hotel. It was very clean, super convenient location. The food court downstairs was superb. The only issue I would say is there was no cold water in the shower, only scalding hot it was literally burning me. Plus with 100 degree weather, who wants to take a hot shower? Otherwise, the woman that checked us in wasn't friendly (skinny dirty blonde/brown hair) not at checkin or when I brought my 3yr old niece and her parents into the hotel as my niece needed to use the bathroom. I verify who I was, bringing my family in for a moment, not to hang out and she still had an attitude.

Very nice, friendly, and accommodating staff. My room had a lot of traffic / street noise from before 5 AM to past midnight every day I was there. For the price, I think it is a pretty good bargain and I would stay here again. But, if traffic noise will interfere with your sleep, you might want to look elsewhere.

Perfect location
This is a nice little hotel, unfortunately our room was next to the main door so LOTS of noise. We arrived just before 4pm & they wouldn't check us in until 4pm even thought my confirmation said 3pm?? We had breakfast at Sol (their restaurant) amazing. Location of the hotel is amazingly perfect. Even with the noise I would stay again

Loved the simple room and was perfect for our stay for a few days while visiting the beach, surfing, and enjoying the wonderful food. Our only gripe was the mattress wasn't our favorite but loved the close food options and the discounts that the hotel offered. The hotel felt close to everything in Tamarindo and we happily explored everywhere we could on foot. We liked that the 'Watchy' was free as well but tipped him anyway. Sol bakery was our favorite in the mornings, with good food, smoothies and coffee would couldn't ask for a better way to start our mornings. This place has great vibes and we would absolutely stay again.

This is a wonderful property right in the middle of downtown, close to absolutely everything. There's a wonderful outdoor sitting area, perfect for relaxing. It's clean, comfortable and very friendly staff.

Excellent staff! I do not usually write reviews. But the service provided me at The Zulu Surf Hotel was so outstanding that I wanted to write about it. Chris and Mattaes went above and beyond to help me out when I had a difficult time. When I needed assistance, they did not hesitate, and did everything they could to help me out. A 3rd associate, Andres, also provided excellent service. Though I did not see him as much due to the shift he worked, he was very courteous and very helpful. All 3 of these employees are outstanding when it comes to providing customer service. As I noted, they went above and beyond to help me out. But I also noticed they provided exemplary service to all of the guests that they interacted with. They always seemed enthusiastic about responding to any questions, needs, concerns or desires of the guests. From the moment I checked in to the moment I checked out, Chris, Mattaes and Adres were warm and welcoming, curtoeous and professional. Your employees are such an important asset to this hotel. Their personalities, their behavior, the way they treat people: all make the experience of staying at Zulu Surf a very positive and memorable one. It can be hard to find employees who are competent, you have 3 who excel. Whomever hired these people did an excellent job! Paul – U.S.

They did not have the reserved room available and downgraded us. I had to pay a new charge and they never refunded the original charge for the bigger room.

I think everything was ok except that the property has receptionist service until 10pm, and after those hours they do not even have security. We were staying and last night we were concerned because a group of spanish people, that where causing problems in the middle of the night and we had to call police because no one in the hotel could help

The staff was accommodating, the hotel was nice and in a good location.... There are no assign parking for hotel guess so parking was in the street which it was tricky to find a spot particularly at night..... Dinning options around the hotel are many great selections..... The hotel needs to invest in new sleeping mattress, it was very uncomfortable the old mattress they had.... They should also add a little closet or drawers.. My room did not had neither..... Overall stay it was ok... I would be 50/50 to stay again.

Amazing stay love tamarindo
Was so good we wanted to stay another night. Right in the middle of the action, if you're not out then bring earplugs. Wouldn't stop me from going back. Friendly helpful staff, nice breakfast fresh cakes and pastries, beautiful clean room and met some great people there.

There was nothing unique about the property-the first room we were given was very small and outdated-the shower had no water pressure, the water seeped into the bedroom and the bed was small and uncomfortable. Because we gave a bad review for check in experience we were transferred to the bedroom that appears on Expedia’s website, this room was bigger and the bed was the same size as the other room but a little better as far as comfort- the staff are polite but irresponsible. We asked for housekeeping to clean the room 3 times and the room was not cleaned at all during our stay, we had to request clean towels otherwise we were not offered clean ones, we had to request toilet paper twice, the second time we requested toilet paper we were acknowledged but it was not provided to us, so we bought our own the next day. We had to put the garbage outside our room because they never cleaned the room. All we saw the housekeeping staff do was sweep the halls and stairs and the rooms once people checked out. We left the keys on the desk at check out because there was no one at the desk when we left (it was already 8am). The housekeeping staff would usually arrive between 8:00-9:00 am and front desk later than that. Very disappointed with this hotel-not worth the money we paid.

This should be a hostel, not hotel. Walls are thin, barely a bar of soap in the shower, walls are dirty, shower is not maintained, windows do not fully shut so it’s impossible to have a decent sleep because of all the street noise. The only positives are the central location and the new mattresses.

This property is terrible. When booking rooms on Expedia they only give you the rooms in the lobby, which are extremely loud and not private. The rooms often have power problems, ac that dont work, or water that doesnt work.

Well this place is WAY over priced to what it offers. the condition of the room of the room (which I will provide pictures), to how noisy it is to the club and restruent right behind the hotel. the staff were nice and helpful for sure. the hotel says breakfast is included, they don't mention is only pastry and coffee at the cafe called Sol. As I said £400 for four nights you except good breakfast and good condition of the room. my bed had hair on the pillow and bedsheets first thing I noticed

The room I stayed and looked nothing like the pictures. The bed had busted Springs on one side and was very uncomfortable. Also my speaker went missing out of my room, not sure how that happened.

This room was right besdoe the reception desk. I could hear everything they did all day. Thw door actually hits the chairs when you open it. There also was no room service, no curtians, no mini fridge, no microwave. It was the worst rental ive had here.
