The Trail Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"The Trail Hotel is not A hotel on the bourbon trail, it is THE hotel. Over the past 12 months, my husband and I have made several trips to bourbon country. We've stayed in historic hotels, boutique hotels, and chain hotels. The Trail Hotel is by far the hotel we've enjoyed the most. The facility has been completely rennovated and includes a nice pool, a huge hot tub, a well stocked bar, and fabulous on-site dining. It's conveniently located near many regional attractions. I plan to make The Trail Hotel a regular on future trips to the area."

"The property itself is gorgeous and a great place to spend the day with family. To stay overnight, I wouldn’t say it’s the most family friendly. We were in a 2 room suite with a steep staircase in the middle of the room. The One room with a twin bed didn’t have a door, so we ended up having to have all of us in one room to ensure our toddler didn’t run out and down the steep staircase at night. The homes are older and don’t do much to help with noise, sorry to guests below. Surprised how well the AC worked on the 3rd floor. Unique history, cute shops and restaurant."

"No towels in room on arrival. When I went to desk to request towels I was told they couldn’t dry linens .Fire doors opened to stair wells no closed due to carpeting . Elevator inspection expired. Pool was not maintained: slime residue on pool. I had bathed grandson in antibacterial soap. Door to pool area was rusted, safety closure not functioning , propped open with a towel. Ants on multiple surfaces in our room . Required me to clean room with sanitizing wipes. Fire occurred Sunday morning in the laundry room requiring , evacuation. Smoke in hallway of second floor because the doors weren’t closed. Poorly staffed. I was in room 202."

"Room was pretty clean and spacious. The young lady who checked us in was friendly and nice. The sink needs a larger countertop. There were 2 of us staying (my wife and I in a king-size room) and there wasn’t enough room by the sink for both of us to store our toiletries. Also, they gave us enough bath towels and washcloths but only one hand towel. There should’ve been two hand towels. There were a couple small holes in the fitted bed sheet—not a good look. Also, *we* had to be the ones to put the TV through the channel-scanning process. This should’ve been done by hotel staff before we arrived. Overall it’s a good place and I’d stay there again but fixing or improving those little details as listed above would make a big difference. Thank you."
