  • The Harbour House

    The Harbour House is a charming, waterfront two-bedroom, two-bathroom cottage located on the southeast end of Spanish Wells, just 30 feet from the water's edge in the island's protected harbor. Completely renovated in 2016, the cottage is ideal for families, friends, couples, and fishing enthusiasts looking for a comfortable and convenient place to enjoy all that Spanish Wells and the surrounding waters have to offer.

    The first floor features an open, fully air-conditioned layout, with the living room, dining area, and kitchen flowing seamlessly from one space to the next. A portion of the living area can be converted into a semi-private sleeping area with a daybed that converts to either a king-size bed or two twin beds. The remainder of the living room provides a comfortable couch and chair for relaxing, watching television, or surfing the Internet using the included Wi-Fi.

    Also located on the first floor is a full bathroom with a shower/tub combination. The bright and colorful kitchen is equipped with the dishes, cookware, and appliances needed to prepare meals during your stay, including a full-size refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, and chest freezer.

    Just outside the back door, a deck includes a gas BBQ grill, table, chairs, and an outdoor shower.

    Arguably the best feature of the main level is the full-length front porch overlooking the harbor. Furnished with Adirondack chairs and equipped with three ceiling fans, the porch is a perfect place to relax and watch boats of all shapes and sizes pass through the harbor.

    The second floor has been completely remodeled and includes two bedrooms, a bathroom with a shower, a separate vanity area, a laundry room, and air conditioning throughout. The master bedroom features a queen-size bed, ceiling fan, harbor views, and its own air-conditioning control. Just outside the master bedroom are the vanity sink, bathroom, and shower.

    The second bedroom has two twin beds, harbor views, a ceiling fan, and its own air-conditioning control. For your convenience, the laundry room includes a full-size washer and dryer.

    The Harbour House is conveniently located within easy walking distance of grocery stores, shops, churches, and restaurants. The beautiful beaches on the north and west sides of the island are only a short golf-cart ride away.

    Spanish Wells is also an ideal destination for those who enjoy exploring the water. Depending on your interests, you can spend the day visiting the pristine beaches of Royal Island, Russell Island, Meeks Patch, or Egg Island; snorkeling and fishing along Devils Backbone Reef; heading offshore in search of dolphin, wahoo, and tuna; visiting the Glass Bridge and Queen's Bath; or exploring the surrounding islands and cays. The possibilities are nearly endless.

    The Harbour House is a comfortable cottage with the amenities needed for a relaxing and enjoyable vacation. Our local caretaker, Johnny, can assist with airport transportation, meet you upon your arrival, help familiarize you with the Harbour House and Spanish Wells, and address any issues that may arise during your stay. He also rents golf carts and boats, making it convenient to arrange transportation and explore the island and surrounding waters.

Harbor Retreat and Fisherman’s Paradise

This was our second visit to Spanish Wells and we chose to stay close to the center of town this visit and were thrilled with the location! Harbor House is a close walk to all of the restaurants, beaches and I’m the docks are a perfect place to fish! We love SW and hope to return next year!

Spanish Wells Stay

This cute cottage was all we expected in our stay at Spanish Wells. It had all the necessary amenities. We loved sitting on the porch, watching water traffic and fishermen come and go while enjoying the porch ceiling fans. The sunrises and sunsets were phenomenal. Close to a fun restaurant and shopping. We will definitely want to stay here again.

Harborside House

Fully equipped great little cottage. 2 very nice bedrooms and baths with space and privacy for more. Located in the historic harbor with a great porch to watch the world go by. Due to an airline issue we needed 3 extra nights at the very last minute and we were graciously accommodated. This was a great space for us and highly recommend Harbor House.

Amazing downtown harbor front location.

Harbor House was perfect for our visit to Spanish Wells! The house is located right on the waterfront in the small downtown area. My husband and I traveled with another couple, the house was large enough, there was even room for another couple or kids. The care takers Johnnie and Nancy were absolutely amazing and so helpful; we rented a golf cart (A MUST) for our entire stay, and a boat for two of the days from them too. The cart was at the house when we arrived, and they were there to greet us. They also arranged transportation to the island from Eleuthera for us. We are already planning our next trip to Spanish Wells and hope to stay in the Harbor House.

Simple Cottage / excellent prop mgr

We enjoyed our stay. The biggest bonus was Johnny the prop mgr who went above and beyond to help us. Cant say enough about how his kindness impacted our enjoyment of the property. The owner was also excellent in communicating. We are only a tad older 🤫so we found the steps to the second floor a little daunting but its typical for an older (probably historic) fishing cottage. The main living room area was charming and inviting. We would have preferred one room not twin beds but understand thats best for overall Rentability. Lastly we were glad johnny arranged a golf cart for us as we had delayed arrivals and it made life easier. Everyone was wonderful.

Quaint Little Cottage

Loved our stay at the Harbor House. Perfect for 4 people. Located at the entrance of the Spanish Wells Harbor which means can be a little busy at times with ships coming in delivering cargo but thoroughly enjoyed watching the ships maneuver and would walk over to watch them unload. Very close to the ferry terminal and within walking distance of restaurants and grocery stores. Johnny and Nancy, the property managers were very helpful and were quick to respond to any request. Very relaxing vacation and would definitely stay again.

A step back in time:)

First off I gotta give Joe 10 stars, just for putting up with the aggravation I caused him lol. Between my flight cancellations and changing and cancelling dates, he was very accommodating. The house is as cute as a button, everything you need for your holiday. I would definitely recommend his house, great location.

Serenity in Spanish Wells

The Harbour House is a perfect cottage for a tranquil retreat. It is characteristically Bahamian and is an adorable cottage. Nearly everything you could want is available and ready to go. The location and view are fantastic. Before we left, we did not believe we would find ourselves sitting on the front porch for hours...but we sat on the front porch for hours watching the boats, golf carts & people come/go. Spanish Wells is by far the quietest, safest, and friendliest of the Islands in this area - we did day trips to most of them during our trip. If you are looking for a tranquil retreat surrounded by the friendliest locals, and in a place that looks like paradise - this is the home/trip for you.

Great Little House on the Harbor

This is the house to rent if you are a boater. It is conveniently located in town, on the harbor, with your boat docked right across the street. We had some traveling issues due to the pandemic, and the owner and the caretaker were very helpful and good people. We loved staying here and love Spanish Wells, we will be back.

Great waterfront house and easy access to Spanish Wells restaurants with golf cart. Very relaxing with morning coffee on the front porch watching the canal boat traffic. Had a great full day tour with Tyman Charters to see the sites around Spanish Wells. Wish we could have stayed longer. We'll be back!

Spanish Wells...The Harbor House

We have gone on two vacations to date using VRBO and I will say, I would highly recommend using this Company. We just travelled to Spanish Wells, Bahamas from the end of March to the first week in April 2019. What a "quaint, friendly, beautiful and very safe" Island. Most people get around in golf carts or bicycles. The beaches are beautiful. I recommend renting a boat and do some exploring or book one of the many excursions offered. We stayed on the "harbor side" in a small house called Harborside. It was extremely clean and you felt as though you were meant to be there. The decor is a "beach theme" and there is more than enough room for a family. (2 bedrooms, 2 baths, laundry, kitchen and a "couch/bed" in the living room). The owner Joe, was very good about acclimating me to this Island prior to our arrival. Further, his caretakers, The Underwood's (John and Nancy) went above and beyond the call of duty. They had a taxi driver waiting for us at the airport to bring us to the Ferry Dock. (You fly into Eleuthra and take a 10 minute ferry ride to Spanish Wells). At the dock in Spanish Wells, Johnny and his wife were there to greet us, deliver the golf cart that we had requested to rent and to show us to our rental. They treated us like old friends. If we had any questions or needed anything, they were right there. I felt right at home in Spanish Wells. Everyone was extremely friendly. No person whether they were "tourists" like us, or "locals" passed you by without a friendly hello. The island is small - 4 miles around, however, there is also an adjoining island called Russell Island that you can explore. Good restaurants...nice little grocery store...rentals of any type there - bikes, kayaks, paddle boards, boats, fishing gear...I could keep on going. We will definitely be back!!! Thank you VRBO! We're already booked for next year

We loved Harbour House. The activity of the harbour was fascinating and we met people every day going by on "the Strip". The cottage is cheerful, comfortable and nicely appointed. As with everything, there were a couple of things that we should point out. If you are tall, the upstairs bathroom can provide a challenge (so go to the downstairs one for your showers) and if you have bad knees as I do, the low toilets make them groan a bit. That being said, everything else worked for us. There were a couple of minor glitches during our stay as can happen anywhere but they were handled quickly and professionally by Joe (the owner) and the property manager Johnny . All in all, I think the title of our review says it all.

Exactly as described!

This charming cottage was perfect for our two week stay over the Christmas holidays with our two teenage children. Joe (home owner) and Johnny (property caretaker) we terrific to deal with. We rented a golf cart and boat from Johnny which allowed us to immerse ourselves into the island community and surrounding area by boat. Can’t say enough about Johnny. This is true cottage living and not a five star resort although it had everything we needed. We brought several food items (frozen meat, crackers, pasta, condiments, & canned goods). Islanders are incredibly friendly and welcoming. There is lots to do (or not!) in and around Spanish Wells. We did a day trip with Bruno (Underwood Charters) to Eleuthera where we visiting Preacher’s Cave, Glass Window, Queen’s Bath, Hatchet Bay Cave (be sure to go all the way in to the water!) and Sapphire Blue Hole. Bruno was incredible; knowledgeable, friendly and completely accommodating. We would never have seen or gone to some of these places without a guide! If you have some boating experience, it’s definitely worth renting a boat. We completely explored Meeks Patch (swimming with the pigs!), Royal Island and Egg Island. Often we were the only ones on stunning sandbars and beaches. Spanish Wells is incredible, we will return!

Beautiful and perfect place to stay when in Spanish Wells

We had a great time spending our vacation at the Harbour House. The Harbour House is the perfect place to stay when in Spanish Wells and it has everything you need. It has a great location on the harbor with a perfect front patio for morning coffee. The bedrooms and bathrooms are clean and have nice linnens and towels. There is a washer and dryer. The three A/C units keep the house nice and cool. There is a place to dock a boat right out front. The house has a simple but well equipped kitchen and a very nice propane grill. We will stay here again!

Great Stay

My wife and I enjoyed our stay at Harbour House very much. The house was perfect for our needs. We rented a boat from the caretaker, Johnny, and enjoyed having it docked across the street. The restaurants and grocery store were just a short golf cart ride away. Johnny and Joe were both helpful and quickly responded to our questions. Cute Bahamian cottage on the boat harbor

We stayed at Harbour House in Spanish Wells for 18 days. We loved sitting on the porch watching the boats come and go. The cottage was clean and had every thing needed to keep house. The fish store is literally 50 steps from the house. We bought fresh lobster at least 4 times. We had a couple of minor glitches that were taken care of immediately by Joe and Johnny, the manager. The weather was nice enough that we didn't even need the air conditioner. Spanish Wells is quiet and has beautiful water and beaches. The folks there are very friendly.
