Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Great location for viewing Quilatoa. Staff was very attentive and room and dining facilities very clean. Food was included in the stay and good value for the price. The staff serving dinner and breakfast were very attentive, even made hot milk for me to add to my coffee. My only complaint would be that our room had an enclosed “sun porch” and the roof was a piece of hard plastic not tacked down on one corner and with the wind blowing it was very loud all night. Also the beds are just so so in comfort and they have a plastic cover that makes you sweat somewhat.
My stay here was fine. Only complaints are that the walls/floors are thin and I could hear my neighbours through the night. Also when I signed in, the host didn’t have the right change to give me so she told me to return for my $1 later. When I returned, nobody knew what I was asking about and ultimately I was overcharged :(
The hostel has the potential to be really great with fab communal area, hammocks and fires in the rooms. However slightly oddly they called us in for dinner about an hour before it was ready and we were sat in the dark and cold (as there’s been a power cut) waiting. We asked for some wood to help light the fire which took a couple of hours for them to sort out, when they did they poured a lot of petrol on it so the room smelled bad all night. The customer service just seemed not quite there yet.
It was cheap overall though and good location to the crater to start the walk.
Nice little place, though a bit cold inside. The room was cozy and the staff lit the wood-burning stove for us as we were finishing dinner. Meals were tasty enough. We had a minor issue with the toilet tank running constantly overnight but the staff addressed it immediately when we notified them in the morning. All of the staff members we interacted with were excellent.

Great location but very cold and bed was ok... Food was also OK. Need more heating and warmer water to justify the price
No Internet. No hot water - in winter, when both the hotel and the outdoors were freezing. Staff not particularly helpful. Nice view, though.
There's no real reason to stay overnight in Quilotoa. The town itself isn't great. Better options in Latakunga for both food and lodging.
We really enjoyed our stay at Hostal Chukirawa. The staff were very accommodating despite being busy with drop-ins all the time. The double room was clean and large enough for the two of us. The shower was hot and water pressure good. WiFi cut in and out during the rainy times of the day, but it was also adequate.
Cold everywhere in the hotel. Impossible to take shower because it smell so bad in the cold bathroom probably because of bacterias and germs groth. Onely one quality of that hotel is the proximity whit the Quilotoa across the street. Absolutely too much expensive for what you get. Not recommended !!!!
