Rooms were not cleaned. Had to go ask for towels. There was a bad smell throughout the hotel. Very strong smell of perfume. Breakfast wasnt great. Not a lot to choose. Apple juice tasted like syrup.

Our room had blood on the wall and shower curtain and reaked of cigarettes, and the door didn’t lock. After complaining we were told to wait and then after 20 minutes of taking other customers first, they offered to move our room. We wanted a refund but couldnt get one because we booked through expedia. Our new room also stunk of cigarettes and other customers all were complaining about the same issues and didnt get refunded either. The water also smelled like sewage and there were no screens in the windows. Also the elevator was scary and past it’s inspection date which they actually cut off so there is no date at all on there. I will never stay here again.

Unfortunately the folks at the front desk were not friendly, seemed like we were a bother, had to ask for bedding for the pull out three times, there were rotten berries and food ground into the pull out couch, an old bottle of juice under the ottoman, rust, black mold and peeling wall paper and an odd smell in the room. I’ve never written a negative hotel review in my life but felt this was warranted. Do not stay here.

I truly enjoyed my 2 night stay. I was very pleased with the cleanliness of the property. The swimming pool was a huge plus as I was there during an ice storm. Most of coastal Maine lost power including this property. But you would never have known as their generator kept everything going. I was also pleased that their breakfast choices included waffles, eggs and home fries along with the usual muffins, toast and bagels. I would highly recommended this property and will look forward to staying again in the future.

Property is dirty, soon as you get in at the reception there is a strange odor. A/C unit in the room very noisy, shower curtain very filthy at the bottom. Most accommodations in the area didn’t have power due to winter snow storm so this being one of the few with it, I had limited choice .

Considering other options
The Scarborough Comfort Inn has been my go-to place to stay for many years but I hadn't been since before covid hit. Its location is very convenient to where I've needed to be but I'm considering other options now. There was mold/mildew in the tub, shower surround, and under the rim of the sink. The shower curtain rod was coming out of the walls on both sides. The bed I used and the towels appeared clean but the mold made me wary of touching anything in the room (and I figured all the rooms would have the same problems so I didn't bother to try to change). Checking in and out took way longer than it should have, too. Not as pleasant an experience as in the past.

⭐BEST hotel in Scarborough⭐ Special thanks to the kind, personable staff that was always there for me! I arrived for a family funeral after a difficult couple weeks abroad plus a long night of flights and a bus trip, and they made an exception for an early check in! So grateful* I got a 1st floor king suite...the price is super affordable considering it is one of the best hotels I've ever been to; soft cozy bed, quiet, everything in the room worked and was clean, the breakfast was perfect, and the location is safe for a single woman! I was able to sleep like a log and recharge* I wish I could've stayed longer🙂

Enjoyed breakfast daily. Very good assortment. Waffles, cheese omelets and yogurt and fruit. The hot coffee was a great start.

Very nice budget friendly place, although room smelled like cigarettes when we entered. We were able to open the window and put the air on so we got the smell out pretty quick. Overall would stay again if I am tight on money.
