Seashell Cottage - Charming Hideaway at the Beach

A romantic, secluded, and charming Paradise Retreats beach hideaway a half block from Montecito's favorite beaches and just steps to the Rosewood Miramar where you can wine and dine. This lovely cottage was beautifully updated and remodeled in June 2007. The designer furnishings, bright open floor plan, modern appliances, and peaceful rear deck combine to make a wonderful vacation escape. The rear deck overlooks Montecito creek, and is shaded by 200 year old sycamore trees. It is an easy stroll to both Miramar Beach and Hammond's Beach. Beach chairs, towels, umbrellas, beach toys, and a beach wagon are available for your use. Montecito's Coast Village Road is a 2 minute drive away. Downtown Santa Barbara, with its beaches, museums, boating excursions, and other attractions, is about 10 minutes away. Please consider this private and romantic cottage for your next retreat from the pressures of everyday life. You will not be disappointed!

GUEST HOUSE / SHARED DRIVEWAY / SHARED COMMON AREAS: There is a detached owner’s studio on the property, where the owner may occasionally stay. There is a shared wall with the adjacent Seaside Cottage.

NOTE: Book "Seashore Retreat" to have the entire home! This property can be combined with the adjacent "Seaside Cottage" to make a 3 Bedroom | 2 Bathroom home.
**Lock Off/Access Passage can be separated/locked between both Living Rooms and Patios.**

**GUEST AGREES TO ELECTRONICALLY SIGN OUR RESERVATION AGREEMENT within 2 days of booking. (Emailed to Guest upon booking.)**

This place is beautiful, clean, and in a great location. However, I definitely listed fireplace on filters when searching for a rental and the fireplace did not work. We have been told a maintenance person is looking into it now but that doesn’t change the fact that I couldn’t use it. It probably sounds trivial, but I live in a place that is too hot for fireplaces & they are nostalgic for me. It would have been nice if someone came to fix it while I was there.

Tranquil & Lovely

What a lovely cottage this is. We enjoyed the lovely, tranquil setting very much. The deck overlooking the seasonal creek is spectacular and much time was spent there. The main bedroom has an antique bed that is extremely high. I couldn't get in and out of it comfortably so slept on the trundle/day bed which was just fine. In fact I loved it! My sister enjoyed the antique bed and found the mattress comfortable. We had quiet people like us staying next door for most of the time and heard almost nothing through the shared door/walls. A much louder person checked in on our last night with a very loud voice and we could hear every word from her and her visitor. The peace and quiet factor depends on who you get next to you. We look forward to staying here again as the vibe is lovely. The road this property on is historic. Very quaint and atmospheric. If the tides are cooperating you can easily walk down the path to the beach. At low tide you can easily walk from Hammonds to Butterfly by walking to the right. Scenic and gorgeous! The train adds to the atmosphere in my opinion - not disturbing in the least. Simply marvelous!

A really lovely spot

This is a cozy, comfy cottage in a stellar location. It was a great home base for our adventures in the area. Our experience was affected by an ant infestation in the living area. The maintenance team was very responsive in coming out to set traps but they take a few days to work and by then we were at the end of our stay. Other than that, a really great spot to spend some time!

A very cozy place

My wife and I and our teenage daughters stayed here for two weeks this August. The house is simple and adorable and is a 4-minute walk to the beach. The availability of beach chairs and a beach umbrella was a big plus. The property manager wouldn't tell us if these were available, but the property manger's communication was otherwise excellent. Grilling in the back of the house, overlooking the creek, was a particular pleasure. Do get a tide chart app so you can figure out when you can take walks on the beach. We would love to come back.

Wonderful, perfection beyond words. Exceeds all expectations

The stay at Seashell cottage is a joy for the soul. Perfection. The house is lovingly restored by the friendly owners,Dr Susan and Michael. They’ve spared no effort or expense in providing every imaginable amenity for the comfort of their guests.Starting from the state of the art fireplace and modern kitchen, to the comfortable bed. Everywhere you look there’s beauty combined with functionality..The kitchen- well stocked. The laundry place with every cleaning product provided. The beautiful antique stain glass windows have been transported by the owner from his own home to install here. The antique furniture is exhibition worthy and cozy The house is in a quiet lane, a stone’s throw from the fabulous Miramar beach. And there’s a garden tended to regularly And to top it all off, a brook runs behind the private porch. It was truly a privilege to be able to spend several weeks in this exquisite, quiet, private place Thank you Susan and Mike for creating a home of caring and beauty.

Great location - Walking Distance to the Beach

Our family loved the Seashell Cottage for our spring break trip to Southern California. The cottage sits along a pretty little creek, which provided great ambiance for sleeping. The weather was a a bit rough for us and the surrounding community, but the location was still wonderful. Quick access to the beach and quick drives to downtown Santa Barbara and Montecito allowed for amazing restaurant and shopping options. The setup worked well for my wife and I as well as our two teenage kids. We would definitely stay here again, if the opportunity were to arise, and hopefully the weather would cooperate to take advantage of the backyard deck and close beach access. Thank you for allowing us to stay, we had a great time!
