![About an hour out of Xela is a wonderful Hike to Laguna Chicabal a sacred Mayan Lake. Plan to leave early and spend the day climbing and in and around the lake. There is often mayan ceremonies going on. 

Best way to get there is by shuttle from Xela.

![About an hour out of Xela is a wonderful Hike to Laguna Chicabal a sacred Mayan Lake. Plan to leave early and spend the day climbing and in and around the lake. There is often mayan ceremonies going on. 

Best way to get there is by shuttle from Xela. 

Note you cannot swim in the lake, it is prohibited.

"Firstly, when we checked in, the receptionist charged us over 400 Q extra as there were 2 of us (later reduced to 270Q). Starting at 7:00-11:00pm there was party with extremely loud music so we could not sleep well the first night. Although breakfast was included we had avena and asked for fruit as well. We were charged 72Q for that. All in all it was unpleasant."
