Find hotels in Roches from CA $65

The best areas to stay in Roches for most travellers are the historic town centre and the riverside district, both offering excellent access to the city's main attractions.

The historic town centre is ideal for those who appreciate being in the heart of the action. This area is defined by its mediaeval streets, such as Rue Nationale, which is lined with independent shops, local eateries, and charming cafes. You'll find yourself just a short walk from the Château de Roches and the Collegiate Church of Saint-Ours, making it superb for sightseeing.

Couples often enjoy the riverside district, particularly along the banks of the River Cher. This neighbourhood offers a more relaxed setting with picturesque views of the river and the château. Many hotels here provide balconies overlooking the water, and there are pleasant walking paths along the river. It's a nice choice for a romantic getaway, with easy access to the town centre via short strolls.

For families, staying slightly outside the immediate historic centre but still within a 10-15 minute walk can offer more spacious accommodation options, often with gardens or larger rooms.

The best time to visit Roches is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) months when the weather is pleasant and the region is at its most inviting.

Spring in Roches sees the countryside come alive with blooming flowers and lush greenery, making it ideal for exploring the Loire Valley's châteaux and gardens. The temperatures are mild, superb for cycling along the riverside paths or enjoying a leisurely stroll through the vineyards. It's a particularly good time for couples looking for scenic drives and romantic picnics.

Autumn offers a different kind of beauty, with the vineyards ablaze in fiery colours and the harvest season in full swing. The weather remains agreeable for outdoor activities, and there are often local festivals celebrating the wine and produce of the region. Foodies and those interested in wine tasting will find this a particularly rewarding time to visit.

While summer (July and August) is also popular, it can be quite warm, and tourist attractions tend to be busier.
