The best area to stay in Rittana is within the main village, particularly around the Church of San Mauro.

This central part of Rittana offers convenient access to local amenities and the starting points for many of the area's walking trails. The village itself is small and compact, with traditional stone houses and narrow lanes. You'll find a few local eateries and shops within easy walking distance.

For couples seeking a peaceful retreat with easy access to nature, staying in the main village is ideal. It provides a quiet base from which to explore the surrounding Valle Stura di Demonte, with trails suitable for all levels of hikers.

The best time to visit Rittana is during the warmer months, from late spring through early autumn, typically May to October.

During this period, the weather is generally pleasant, with comfortable temperatures ideal for enjoying outdoor activities and exploring the natural beauty of the Valle Grana. The days are longer, allowing for more time to hike, cycle, or simply take in the stunning mountain scenery. For those interested in local culture and traditions, this season also often sees various village festivals and events.

Couples looking for a romantic escape will find late spring or early autumn particularly appealing. The landscape is either bursting with wildflowers or adorned with the rich colours of the changing leaves, providing a beautiful backdrop for walks and scenic drives. The cooler, crisp air is superb for enjoying a quiet dinner at a local trattoria or relaxing by a fireplace.

Families travelling with children will appreciate the summer months, especially July and August. The warmer weather makes it superb for outdoor adventures, and there are often more organised activities available in the broader Cuneo province that are suitable for all ages.
