The best area to stay in Puerto San Miguel is directly within the main bay area, which offers a relaxed coastal experience with convenient access to the beach and local amenities.

This compact area is centred around the crescent-shaped beach, Playa de San Miguel, and features a selection of hotels and apartments located into the hillside overlooking the sea. The main road, Carretera de San Miguel, runs parallel to the beach, providing easy access to the few shops, restaurants, and beach bars. It's a small, self-contained resort, making everything easily reachable on foot.

For families, staying in the main bay is ideal. The beach itself is well-suited for children, with gentle waters and opportunities for sandcastle building. Many of the accommodations here are designed with families in mind, offering facilities like swimming pools and direct beach access. The nearby Cova de Can Marçà caves provide an interesting outing for all ages, just a short walk or drive away.

Couples seeking a peaceful retreat will also appreciate the main bay. The evenings here are quiet, superb for enjoying a seaside dinner or a stroll along the shore. Some hotels offer rooms with sea views, providing a lovely backdrop for a relaxing holiday.

The best time to go to Puerto San Miguel is during the shoulder seasons, specifically May, June, September, and early October.

These months offer pleasant weather, with warm temperatures great for beach activities and exploring the island, but without the intense heat and crowds of the peak summer months. You'll find that the sea is warm enough for swimming, and most facilities and restaurants are fully open.

For couples looking for a relaxing escape, late May or early June is ideal. The island is lush, the beaches are less crowded, and you can enjoy romantic dinners by the sea in a more tranquil setting. Many of the hiking trails around the area, offering stunning coastal views, are also more enjoyable before the summer heat truly sets in.

Families travelling with younger children might find September and early October to be perfect. The sea remains warm, the daytime temperatures are comfortable, and the island is generally calmer as the school holidays wind down.
