"When I arrived at this property the owner finally answered the door, she said she had no knowledge of my booking. Finally I had to email her a copy of my confirmation. This wasn't made any easier by her statement that "she spoke no English" - the website clearly states multilingual staff. (In fact it later became clear she did speak English). The 'living-room' is actually set out as a shop and did not feel welcoming - I was not invited to use it anyway. The only restaurant in Salives was unable...

COMFORT air-conditioned house with garden, terrace in Medieval City in Burgundy

COMFORT air-conditioned house with garden, terrace in Medieval City in Burgundy

10/10 Excellent

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Oigny?
The best area to stay in Oigny for a truly exceptional experience is within the village itself, particularly around the main square and along the D980 road.

Oigny is a small, picturesque village located in the heart of Bourgogne, known for its tranquil setting and traditional French countryside appeal. The main square, often featuring a historic church or a village fountain, is typically the focal point, with a few local establishments nearby. The D980, while a regional road, is the primary route through the village, connecting it to larger towns and offering easy access to the surrounding vineyards and natural parks.

Couples seeking a romantic and peaceful retreat will find Oigny ideal. Staying directly in the village allows for leisurely strolls through its quiet lanes, enjoying the local architecture and the unhurried pace of rural life. Many accommodations here are charming guesthouses or renovated farmhouses, offering a personal touch and excellent local cuisine. It's a great base for exploring the nearby Châteaux of Bourgogne or enjoying wine-tasting tours in the Côte d'Or region.

For travellers interested in outdoor activities and exploring the natural beauty of the Morvan Regional Natural Park, staying in Oigny provides excellent access. The village is close to various hiking and cycling trails, allowing you to easily discover the forests, lakes, and rolling hills of the park.
When is the best time to go to Oigny?
The best time to visit Oigny is during the late spring and early autumn months, specifically from May to June and September to October.

These periods offer the most pleasant weather for exploring the region's outdoors and enjoying its culinary delights. The temperatures are generally mild, with fewer crowds than the peak summer months, allowing for a more relaxed and enjoyable experience.

For those interested in wine tasting and vineyard tours, September and October are particularly appealing. This is harvest season, so you'll see the vineyards at their busiest and have opportunities to participate in harvest festivals or special tastings. The changing leaves also provide stunning scenery for walks and drives through the countryside.

Couples looking for a romantic escape will find May and June ideal.
