"Had a one night stay as we were driving through the area. Cons: No AC in the room, and it was WARM. Old and rock hard beds. Rooms were very loud, and i could hear my neightbour snoring just as well as i heard the traffic from the autobahn. Breakfast was ok. Not too much to choose from, but for the price of the stay i guess it was ok. Pros: Easy and accessible parking. Friendly staff. Very close to the Autobahn, easy choice when you are just travelling through the area."

7. SPREE. Hotel am Hafen

"A wonderful hotel. Very premium and modern aesthetic. Hotel has minimal amenities like soap and hotel slippers and hair dryer only so you need to bring your own shampoo or toothbrush. Breakfast buffet is great. Will stay there again if we hit the area. Location is great , near the tourist boat tour. But there’s nothing much to do other than biking , and walking around a small riverside/nature area. The neighboring Lehde town is cute but super tiny. Can’t imagine being here more than 2 nights."

Tropical Islands Resort

10/10 Excellent

"Overall a really fantastic stay and can’t wait to return. When we arrived it was very difficult to establish where to check in as multiple check-in locations were closed. Eventually when we did check in, they will never check you in early - they even suggest you park your car at the lodge, which is strange as you can see your lodge available and ready to use but the key doesn’t work till 3pm. Then when it was 3pm we walked back to the lodge only from the hangar to find the key didn’t work so had to walk back to the desk (15 minute walk each way) whilst my wife had to feed our crying baby on the steps of the lodge. Other than that, it’s such a cool place and our lodge was lovely. The restaurant in the tiki bar, was absolutely fantastic and was way above our expectations. The wristband system for paying for everything is dangerously easy! As mentioned, we travelled with a baby and aside from the check-in process, it really was perfect as the water is a lovely temperature and no danger of being cold out of the water in tropical climate of the hangar. We had Amazonian lodge with a sauna and it was brilliant. As stated before it’s a 10-15 minute walk which is fine (as long as your key works..!)"

Watermill located in a SECLUDED SPOT by the river, A CYCLIST'S PARADISE

10/10 Excellent

Spacious Vacation Home with Dock, Boat, and Garden | Spreewald | 12+ Guests

10/10 Excellent

10/10 Excellent

"I was there for my birthday. The facility was lovely and historic. Room was huge with pretty view of the city. Breakfast buffet was good with a big selection. Only thing was they didn’t make my birthday special. Just gave me two tiny chocolates lol. With all the money spent there they could have atleast given me a slice of cake. I had breakfast and dinner there, nothing not even a welcome fruit platter. They sure have no idea to celebrate :-("

The best area to stay in Niewitz is directly within the village centre, particularly near the Niewitz See (Lake Niewitz) and the surrounding rural landscape.

This area offers a tranquil escape, characterised by its natural beauty and direct access to outdoor activities. Accommodation options here often include guesthouses and holiday homes that blend seamlessly with the countryside. The Niewitz See is a central feature, providing opportunities for swimming, fishing, and boating, while the Spreewald biosphere reserve is just a short journey away.

Couples looking for a peaceful retreat will find the village centre ideal. You can enjoy strolls along the lake, cycling through the quiet lanes, or simply relaxing in a natural setting. Many accommodations offer private gardens or terraces, great for enjoying the serenity of the Brandenburg countryside together.

For travellers looking to explore the wider Spreewald region, staying in Niewitz offers a convenient and relaxing base.

When is the best time to go to Niewitz?

Early autumn offers similarly agreeable temperatures, usually between 12°C and 18°C, with the added beauty of changing leaf colours. This season is great for those interested in outdoor activities like hiking and canoeing, as the waterways are less busy.
