Seahorse Cottage is a semi-oceanfront, classic beach cottage located in South Nags Head less than 30 yards over the dune line. Enjoy a 2-minute walk to the beach on a private access road THIS LISTING IS FOR THE DOWNSTAIRS GROUND FLOOR UNIT ONLY. 1 Bedroom and 1 bath with shower. This is a BASIC, older apartment in a 1970 “beach box” - nothing fancy - on the ground floor (below sea level). It has baseboard heat and a window unit air conditioning and a basic kitchen - probably not suitable for cooking extensive meals but great for basic needs. An inexpensive, basic place to unwind after a day at the beach, fishing, or other outdoor activities. It is listed with a max occupancy of 2 people, but families with up to 2 children can be accommodated on a case by case basis if providing own bedding and with advance permission. Permission MUST be given IN ADVANCE. No exceptions. A separate detached three-bedroom unit upstairs is available on its own or with the downstairs as one house.

The space
THIS LISTING IS FOR THE DOWNSTAIRS APARTMENT ONLY. Smell and hear the ocean just over the dune. This is a classic Old Nags Head beach cottage with two separate units - upstairs three bedrooms, 1.5 baths, and downstairs one bedroom, one bath - both with full but older kitchens - and living areas. THIS IS DOWNSTAIRS ONLY. Please note that parking is very limited. The downstairs unit has only 1 dedicated parking space if the upstairs is occupied.

Guest access
This listing is downstairs ONLY. Outdoor common areas (hose and outdoor shower) and laundry room may be shared with other guests if the upstairs is occupied.

This unit only has parking for 1 car or regular size SUV or truck. No on-street parking.

Other things to note
2 adults maximum. Please message us beforehand if you are a family bringing children (2 maximum). Permission must be given in advance. If you were instant booking, please do not book with more than two adults without our permission. We will not allow the booking . Again. If you are more than two adults and are bringing children, you must let us know in advance.

You may have to clean the grill if the last guests did not clean it as is courtesy. Our cleaners do NOT clean the grills. Charcoal is NOT an amenity we provide, but many guests leave some behind as a "pay it forward" gesture, so you may find some but you are responsible for your charcoal needs. In

The unit has baseboard heat and an older window style a/c setup. - nothing fancy! It also has a dehumidifier that you may have to empty if full. We thank you in advance for your assistance with this.

Please note that the wood paneling and the age and proximity to the ocean can have a unique "cottage" smell. We do run a dehumidifier which you may have to empty during your stay. We assume you read this note before booking. Thank you!

PLEASE BE COURTEOUS OF NOISE AND PARKING WHILE OTHER GUESTS ARE IN RESIDENCE. We do have a camera on the house that is motion activated and has a spotlight to monitor parking. The only area that can be seen with the camera is the parking area.
