Admire paintings, drawings and ceramics by Picasso, focusing on the artist’s short stay in Antibes. See impressive views of the Mediterranean Sea from outside the museum, a former stronghold with sections dating back to the 13th and 14th centuries. Tour the museum and discover many artworks produced by the artist when he stayed on the French Riviera. The museum also includes a wide collection of contemporary art. Admire artworks by 20th- and 21st-century artists, including Joan Miró, Nicolas de Staël, Anna-Eva Bergman and Hans Hartung. View some of Picasso’s famous paintings, including *The Goat* and *La Danse sur la Plage*. These paintings give a rare insight into Picasso’s stay in Antibes in 1946\. Notice the Greco-Roman heritage of Antibes in Picasso’s *La Joie de Vivre*. The artist used the former guards’ hall on the second floor of the stronghold as a studio. See many of the paintings and drawings donated to the museum by the artist upon his departure from the area. (339 reviews) Overall a good experience, but by any means a great experience. For a hotel with these ratings, the expectations are not met: none of the showers worked properly- one was leaking, the other one didn’t work. The room is market as it has a balcony with ocean view: that was true, as was ‘some’ ocean view, otherwise it was a lot of ‘roof view’ of the adjacent building. Some of staff members was trying to do their best (the valet team was fantastic as they have a very hard job to move the luggage up and down on a lot of stairs), but some of them just average not something expected from a hotel with such ratings … and rates (ie at check out they charged us one night more for the parking, the offer for transportation was just outrageous- ie 3 times the taxi rates for same type of car…). On the other hand, pleas do yourself a favor and don’t go to the hotel’s restaurant: the service is just bad and the food not so great either (at least for the expectation from a Michelin star restaurant). Let’s start with the reservation: we asked for dinner reservation, and they booked us at 8:00 pm, when the best time is 7:00 pm so you can enjoy the sunset- they didn’t mention / offer this, albeit the restaurant was half booked when we arrived. They asked for formal dressing: don’t worry - they do not reinforce: the people are showing up in T shirts and flip flops.
