Relax by the beautiful blue-ribbon trout stream and let the sounds of the rolling water and breeze through the trees melt away your cares, reconnect with nature by walking along the forested fly fishing trail that borders thousands of acres of national forest. Come back and rejuvenate in the 7-person hot tub, sway in the porch swing, sit on the outdoor couch by the fire table with a glass of wine, and roast marshmallows by the campfire. He didnt catch anything but the locals he talk to said that area was the hot spot. The weather was good, it did snow one day and was very cold; the power did go out and we had to drive close to town to make a call to the host to report the outage and it took several hours to repair but we had good family time waiting. The cabin is so remote, you only have wifi calling. the rest of the week the weather was nice and mild. The cabin is a drive from town, so you know...like 25-30 mins. the closes store was a Dollar General which had most what we needed. We cooked in most nights which was great. We did forget our airfryer and ask the host to send back to us (obliviously) we will pay the shipping but havent heard back from him yet on that. Marion town is small and cute, not to many restaurants but a couple. The one we went to a couple of times was the Wooden Pickle. its small but so good; has a full menu/drinks! Over all the cabin was really nice, all bedrooms are downstairs and living/kitchen upstairs. There is a firepit outside off to the side but we didnt use it. We use the grill and ate outside upstairs most nights. Over all it was everything he wish for on his b-day ##### Mary h. First, the positives: everything was clean, beds were comfortable, the house was beautiful as was the property, they had plenty of towels for us to use, the hot tub was great (although, extremely slippery when getting out), the shower was beautiful, and a good amount of kitchen supplies. This leads me to a couple of suggestions - it says up to 8 people can stay here but there is no place for a group of more than 4 to eat a meal together. There are a couple chairs around the kitchen island and there is a table outside near the hot tub that seats 6 but nowhere inside you can gather everyone for a meal. It would be nice if there was a folding table and extra chairs stored away for when bigger parties may need them. We were quite uncomfortable trying to gather around the kitchen island each night. Another thing was there are no extra blankets. It would be nice to have some extras while we relax in the super comfy recliners. Lastly, please put something down outside by the hot tub for traction. One of us literally broke an ankle getting out and slipping on the wet pavement (found out after she got home and went to the doctor). Despite those things, this place is obviously well cared for and worth the visit, which is why it deserves all the stars. And it was perfectly situated from Hungry Mother State Park where we attended our family reunion. We ventured out on motorcycles and road the Back of the Dragon. We stayed here for my son’s graduation weekend from Emory & Henry. It’s a bit of a ways to campus, but that worked fine for us. The place is beautifully appointed, incredibly comfy mattresses, and an amazing location with the sound of the river flowing all around. The gravel driveway is a bit rustic by most peoples standards, I think, but I grew up on a farm and this one was much better maintained than that. Just know that the last stretch of the drive will be going very slowly.The hot tub was glorious! As we’re all the porch spaces. We cooked breakfast at the house and the only thing I didn’t bring that I later wanted was nonstick spray or butter, but we made out OK without it. I wish we had been able to stay longer and enjoy more of the features. My sister was so in love that she wants to move down to the area! (And preferably into that exact home! I hope that we will find a reason to come back when we didn’t have quite so much of an agenda. Thanks for the wonderful hospitality! ##### Sabena V. Peaceful, quiet, remote, totally excellent! Property matches the description and the many previous, sterling reviews. Clean and equipped with everything you need. Comfortable master bed. Excellent master shower. Probably the best hot tub I've experienced! It is a seven person with wonderful features and lots of jets. Water is really enjoyable due to a non-chlorine treatment system. Fully equipped kitchen with gas grill just outside the door on covered deck. River is just across the entry road with Adirondack chairs on concrete patio river side. Perfect place for morning coffee and after dinner drinks. This is a perfect place for those who want to be away from it! Many wonderful state parks in the area. Grayson Highlands is well worth the hour drive if you want to hike. The Middle Appalachian Museum in Saltville is very surprising! Also visited Hungry Mother State Park. Wooden Pickle restaurant in Marion is great for casual lunch or dinner and Sisters Cafe is excellent choice for breakfast or brunch but closes at 2:00 and is not open on weekends. The last mile and a half of the road to the property is not "bad" by any means. It is a very well maintained, gravel, mountain road typical for these type of properties - meaning it is narrow, basically single lane, curvy and at times steep but no issue if you just pay attention and drive appropriately. For instance, we were in my Mustang Convertible and had no issues. Best to drive in before dark. ##### Charles K.
