We also recommend you take the breakfast, it was great and generous. Great location to hike during the day on the Velika Planina, and do try all the restaurant you cross ! No real need to bring food, and they got you covered with different items you may wish in the cabin (chips, wine, chocolate, pasta, cheese..) at fair price."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Luče?
The best area to stay in Luče is within the main village itself, offering the most convenient access to local amenities and the stunning natural surroundings.

The village of Luče is located in the Upper Savinja Valley, at the confluence of the Savinja and Lučnica rivers. It's a compact and scenic area, with the main village centre concentrated around the Church of St. Lawrence and the local shops and eateries along the main road. The landscape is characterised by rolling hills and dense forests, with the Kamnik-Savinja Alps providing a dramatic backdrop.

For couples seeking a quiet and scenic retreat, staying right in the village provides easy access to gentle riverside walks and local dining options. You can enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and use the village as a base for exploring the surrounding natural beauty, such as the numerous hiking trails that start nearby or a leisurely drive along the Savinja River.

Families will also find the village centre appealing due to its proximity to local facilities. There are often playgrounds and open spaces for children to enjoy, and the village provides a calm environment away from busier tourist hubs.
When is the best time to go to Luče?
The best time to go to Luče for an enjoyable experience is during the summer months, from June to August.

This period typically offers warm, sunny weather, making it ideal for outdoor activities and exploring the natural beauty of the Upper Savinja Valley. Temperatures are generally pleasant, allowing for comfortable hiking, cycling, and water sports in the Savinja River. It's also when the region is at its most active, with local events and attractions in full swing.

For couples looking for an active and scenic getaway, summer is perfect. You'll find the mountain trails accessible for romantic hikes to viewpoints like the one above the Igla rock formation, and the river offers opportunities for kayaking or paddleboarding together. The longer daylight hours mean more time to explore the picturesque landscapes and enjoy evenings outdoors.

Families with children will also find summer an excellent choice. The warmer weather allows for swimming in natural pools or the river, and many local farms offer activities like horse riding or animal encounters that children adore.
