Liked: Check-in, communication, location
The kitchen ceiling needed work. There appears to have been a prior roof leak. The hole was still here with a pan to catch the water. The location was excellent. If you don't like bugs due to the mountain side this is located on, then this house isn't for you. The master queen was VERY firm so be aware of this. We would return.
Our family comes to Chattanooga often, and this impromptu trip had us looking for a place to stay on Lookout Mountain. This house was perfect for this trip - bunk beds for the kids, fire pit out back, comfortable and cozy, and quiet neighborhood. We were very happy with our stay here!
The house was very clean and well stocked with essentials. The location was nice as well. Very close to Rock City, Starbucks, restaurants and trails.
The owner was very responsive and made sure we were happy with our stay. We would be happy to stay here again when we are back in the area.
We chose this property because of it’s proximity to everything Chattanooga and fair price. Plenty of room, listed accurately, and host was very responsive.
We had a great time! The house had an excellent location up in the mountains. We enjoyed being so close to Ruby Falls & Rock City. My kids loved the bunk beds! The house was cozy and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay!
What a nice place tucked away on Lookout Mountain! Communication with the host was very good! They continually checked in on us through texts so that was super nice! Easy to check in and out
The location to where I wanted to be was excellent. The parking and the turn around was a little tight on the property. The neighborhood felt safe and it was quiet.
Very happy to have found an affordable place at this location! We enjoyed the views of Lookout Mt driving between this cottage and Chattanooga. Backyard is small but private since it faces the woods at the end of a small lane. Some things in the house could be updated, but it was fine to meet our family’s needs. Taking off one star from this rating for the musty smell and dirty outdoor dining area.
I rented the home for a stay during my daughters wedding.
The location is beautiful. It was strange having 2 sets of washers & dryers and one washer stained my laundry. The AC went out and there was a very uncomfortable night. The rental company provided portable units which really did the trick. Good stay.
It is located near Ruby Falls, Rock City, Lookout Mountain, Chattanooga, battlefields and Southeast Lineman Training Center. It is on a dead end street and very peaceful, but kinda hard to find in the dark! We enjoyed spending time with family there! It was as described! It was musty smelling when we first got there. After the heat was turned up and some airfreshner it got a lot better! The bedsheets were clean but blinds were dirty & when I moved the remote in the bedroom you could see the dust outline where it was laying. It was a good trip for us just spending time together!
We came for 7 Bridges Marathon, Rock City, Ruby Falls, and Incline Railway over a long weekend. The kids enjoyed the ping-pong table in the basement and the smart TV. It is in a quiet and dark residential neighborhood, so try to arrive during the daylight so you can find it more easily. Property management is very responsive. If I can make any recommendations for property upgrades, I would suggest new beds. Overall, great stay and nice place. Super convenient.
This property is very close to Rock City, Starbucks, and Ruby Falls. If you have back problems DO NOT sleep in master bedroom. That bed is very soft and will swallow you. I learned the hard way. Two of the three bedrooms have the portable AC units which did help keep cool. The bunkbed room did not have one and the kids got hot. There is a nice patio to sit on and enjoy dinner.
We had great family time in this cute home. We enjoyed the outdoor patio. The location was so convenient to the places we wanted to visit. The owners paid attention to detail to make our stay inviting. They were stocked up on soaps, spices, paper towels, and coffee. We made us feel welcomed. Unfortunately we had a problem with ants in the bathroom our first night but management was quick to come out and spray pesticide. We did not see the ants for duration of trip. Management was also quick to fix the faucet in the hallway bathroom when it was not properly.
We enjoyed the home. We would stay here again.
We had 4 adults and 5 kids here for a weekend trip. We visited Rock City, which is a very quick and easy drive from the house. The house location is also a short drive (15-20 minutes) from Chattanooga and Raccoon Mountain, which we also visited. The owners had good communication and were easy to reach if needed.
The house is pretty much as described. We enjoued our time around the fire pit and the kids liked staying together in the bunks. The house would be 5 stars with a few upgrades/updates (larger bed in the 2nd bedroom, new kitchen utensils and appliances, basement cleanup, etc). Overall it was pretty good for the price.
This is a perfect location for visiting our Covenant College students. The house is only 1 mile from campus in a quiet little neighborhood. We enjoyed our stay and had everything we needed. It's not the fanciest house, but it met our expectations and you couldn't beat the price. As others commented the queen bed really needs to be replaced. Our kids sleeping in other beds slept great, but my husband and I didn't. If I heard that the queen bed was replaced I'd book now for every return trip we plan to make! Even with the current bed, the ease of the location to campus might still bring us back.
The house was very nice and clean and very conveniently located to all the things! What a beautiful drive it is!! There was plenty of room for us all! The beds were not the most comfortable but it was fine. Aside from that, the only other negative thing was our second day staying there, an older couple showed up unexpectedly and said they were the owners, and needed to put a package in the garage. This would have been fine, but she walked through the house while we’re all half dressed, because we were getting ready to head out for the day. It was a bit awkward as my daughter was in her underwear and I was in my nightgown. We could have just opened the garage for them. She let me know she has a key and they could have just opened the garage, but decided to knock. It made me a little uneasy leaving my belongings there knowing they just literally “drop in.” We also had to tackle a couple giant wasp nest near the back door as well as ants. Back to the good things, we loved sitting on the back porch watching all the fireflies at night! We don’t see them where we live, so we ate dinner outside just about every night. We overall had a great stay and would definitely consider this cottage again for future vacations!
We’ve used VRBO for over a decade, and this was like so many other great experiences – it felt like we were just borrowing a friend’s vacation place. It was warm and inviting, like walking into someone’s home instead of a cold commercial property. There were enough linens, a moderately well-equipped kitchen, the furniture was comfortable, and the neighborhood was quiet. A drive into town took only a few minutes, and there were plenty of places to visit and see close by.
We didn’t have any complaints, though there were two pet peeves we had. At the top of the stairs there was an area of the floor that didn’t just squeak, it SQUOKE! This area had aspirations of waking-the-dead-in-a-haunted-house. Not much you can do in a house that has “matured” into it’s foundation, but if you have a multiple-times-a-night-bladder like I do, I hope your housemates are VERY hard sleepers. The other pet peeve is the number of dishes. I know owners would rather keep the minimum on hand because theft and breakage in rentals is high, but if you’re going to advertise someplace sleeps 8 or 10 then have 16 or 20 dishes – at least enough to eat two meals without having to wash everything. Matching two bowls to every pillow is included in that. As a bonus, there’d be less damp-damage if there were enough towel bars for that many people – just sayin’! ;-)
In all a very positive experience, would not only recommend to others but would also be happy to stay here again.
The property is located at the end of a dead end street. When you sit out on the back patio you are looking at pure nature. This property is located on the top of the mountain.
The house is older but in great shape. A good spring cleaning needs to be done to get rid of cobwebs outside of the house and in the basement. But other than that the house is clean and smelled great.
There was one washcloth and bath towel per bed. I was disappointed that there were not more wash clothes under the sink like the sign on the sink stated.
It should be noted this is a multi-level house with two flights of stairs.
The bed in the main bedroom needs to be replaced. It is horrible. A piece of plywood in between the mattress and box spring does not help. This is not the first time this has been mentioned in a review.
The rugs in both bathrooms should be thrown away immediately! They look horrible. We picked them up and did not use them.
I would have already booked here for the fall trip if the bed was better. I chose to look at reviews and go with one that had great beds in the review.
The coffee, creamer, shampoo and garbage bags were the little extras in the house.
What you will enjoy most about this house is the back patio, fire pit, and the sounds of nature.
