The Mara Laguna Beach an AvantStay Hotel

"We enjoyed our stay at the Mara. We had a double queen room for my husband and I are our teen son - it was a little on the small side, but it was fine for 2 nights. The rooms are simple - no desk/chair - just the beds, we had 1 ottoman, beverage station and instead of a closet - there was a hanging rack. Bathroom was spacious. Loved the pool area - chairs and towels all well maintained ... and the 4th level offers sitting areas with views of the ocean - very nice. The hotel has nice beach chairs and umbrellas to take to the beach at no charge - that was definitely a nice touch. And also had complimentary croissants and other breakfast pastries each morning & free coffee in the lobby - another nice touch. We did have an unfortunate plumbing issue on our last morning but the hotel was amazing about it and more than accommodating - went above and beyond to take care of the issue and us. Also loved the location - in walking distance to loads of restaurants and shops. Overall, a nice stay but I'd probably see about a larger room if we ever return."

"The older style of this boutique hotel and rooms around the courtyard were charming and cute. The grounds are lovely and the location is perfect!! The rooms themselves need new carpeting badly and a few touch ups to paint and wallpaper. The beds were comfy, but our TV didn’t work the first night. They did fix quickly once informed. This is our 2nd stay here and we’re probably lifers when we come to Laguna, but room upgrades on the older part of the hotel would be great!! Always a great value though!!"

"I love The Tides. It’s such a quaint family-run Inn. The location is perfect and property is clean. It is a bit dated, but well kept and cute details. Anderson was very welcoming and gracious. This is my second stay and I look forward to returning next year 🌊"

"Very spacious rooms with comfortable beds and great towels and amenities. Loved Happy Hour and the Chocolate Chip cookies were delicious. Great staff, very accommodating. Would definitely recommend."

"We had an amazing stay at here. The hotel has such a unique and special feel to it. It’s peaceful, intimate and feels like a little hidden gem. All the staff were so wonderful (literally all of them), with a special shoutout to Jordan and Natasha for going above and beyond to make my wife’s birthday extra special with a beautiful ocean view room. The rooms are gorgeous and spotless, breakfast was excellent and plentiful, and the pool area was beautiful, clean and relaxing. You can tell a lot of care goes into this place. We loved our stay are already talking about going back!"

"I enjoyed my stay. Wonderful view of the ocean. Not a bad place for a 2 star. It was a bit pricey to me for a weekday but I could beat free parking, being right next door to a mini mart and the beach being a short walk across the street. Staff were very chill but kind and helpful! I will return!"
