Nestled on a lush and secluded hilltop, with spectacular views of Lake Arenal, Arenal Volcano and the Children’s Eternal Rain Forest, Birdsong Villa welcomes you to little piece of paradise. Experience an unforgettable holiday in one of Costa Rica’s premier travel destinations.

Accommodation: Birdsong Villa is a unique and luxurious accommodation that offers you the flexibility to rent one or both floors of the villa. This listing is ONLY for the TOUCAN SUITE.

The Toucan Suite is located on the bottom floor of the villa with a private entrance. The suite has a living and dining room, and separate bedroom with a queen bed and a pull out couch that accommodates 1 extra adult or 2 children. There are large glass windows that provide views of the Arenal Volcano and of the vibrant and luscious gardens with dozens of hummingbirds and butterflies fluttering around.

The modern kitchen provides all the cooking amenities of home. Refrigerator, stove with oven, microwave, toaster and drip coffee maker.

The Suite offers luxury and elegance with the comforts of home, including streaming TV, high speed wifi internet. It has a modern bathroom with a walk-in rain shower (big enough for two!), with excellent water pressure and temperature.

As you sit out on the observation deck and the sunshine warms your skin, close your eyes and listen to the melody of the birds and howler monkeys, all set against the rushing waters of the Piedras Negras river and nearby waterfalls.

Location: Birdsong Villa is only 3 hours (150km) from two international airports, either in the capital of San Jose, or on the northern pacific coast in Liberia. Birdsong Villa is just 30 minutes from La Fortuna, which offers amenities such as grocery, banking, post office, restaurants, hot springs, excursions and much more.

Things to do: Experience the ultimate Costa Rican holiday with some of our recommended day trips. The Arenal area has it all, from zip-lining, horse riding, hot springs, butterfly conservatory, kayaking and paddle boarding, fishing, hiking, birding, and more. Everything you could ask for is less than an hour away so you will spend more time enjoying your holiday and less time driving. Our concierge is always available at our new and modern Welcome Center to help you book tours, find the best restaurants, book a massage and get the most out of your time in the area.

GETTING AROUND: You will want a 4WD vehicle. The last drive up to the house is a road made of gravel and rocks. When it rains there are potholes. You will be a lot happier with a 4WD here and in most areas of Costa Rica. While there are a couple of things to see and one restaurant within walking distance of the house, there are many activities that require a 10 to 45 minute drive. You will not be happy waiting for a cab to arrive either coming of going.

Had an amazing stay! The view was absolutely stunning, local restaurants served such lovely and drinks. Agustin the Property Manager was so polite and helpful, and we were even able to check in early on arrival which was really appreciated. We were in a good location to reach the activities and tours. We will definitely be coming back! X

Run out by Ants

We can't recommend this property until the host can guarantee the property has been cleared of the ant infestation. When we arrived, the property was filled with fumigation fumes and not aired out - which triggered my allergies. That night there was an ant infestation - the little red ants bite. We contacted the host. Over the course of the next two weeks, they sprayed and left ant traps but we had ants to some level every day and my wife was bitten several times. When she had one in her ear, we decided we needed to leave for another property three days early. On the same day we decided to leave, we were told the breakfast that came with the place was cancelled at the restaurant near the property. We requested some type of refund but got no response. The location does have a nice view of the volcano. The room was clean of everting but the ants. There is a TV but we had to provide our own passwords to access services like Netflix. The kitchen has no hot water, has good appliances, but very poor utensils. The restaurant that provided the breakfast was a delight. The bathroom and shower are nice. Though the suite has a pullout couch, there really is no chairs or table space for more than two people. The gardener was very nice and sprayed for ants each time we pointed them out. The suite could really use some hanging rods and a second bench for a suitcase. If you are looking for a property in El Castillo, consider the Nepentine B&B.

Spectacular views of Arenal Volcano

Birdsong Villa probably has the best view of the Arenal Volcano in the entire area. Sitting out on the deck soaking in the view is mentally soothing; not another sign of human existence can be seen. Extremely quiet and private.
