Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Kontias?
The best area to stay in Kontias is within the village centre itself, particularly around the main square and the streets leading off it.

This area is the heart of Kontias, offering a traditional Greek village experience. You'll find charming stone houses, a few local tavernas serving authentic cuisine, and a small minimarket for essentials. The village is relatively small and easy to navigate on foot, with the Church of Agios Ioannis Prodromos being a prominent landmark.

Couples looking for a peaceful and authentic Greek island escape will find Kontias village ideal. It provides a relaxed pace of life, opportunities to enjoy local food, and a chance to experience the island's culture away from more touristy areas.
When is the best time to go to Kontias?
The best time to visit Kontias is during the late spring (May to early June) and early autumn (September to early October).

During these periods, the weather is pleasantly warm and sunny, great for exploring the island without the intense heat and larger crowds of the peak summer months. You'll find temperatures ideal for swimming, sunbathing, and enjoying outdoor activities.

For couples looking for a romantic and tranquil getaway, these shoulder seasons offer a more intimate experience. You can enjoy strolls along the beaches, dine al fresco at local tavernas, and explore the island's natural beauty in a relaxed setting. The sea is still warm enough for swimming, and the natural landscape is at its most inviting.

Families travelling with younger children will also appreciate the milder temperatures, which make sightseeing and beach days more comfortable for everyone.
