The village is surrounded by a patchwork of fields, woodlands, and, of course, the serene Bassenthwaite Lake, which is just a short drive away. Braithwaite is a gateway to a plethora of outdoor activities. Whether you're an avid hiker or a leisurely stroller, the area boasts a range of trails suitable for all levels of fitness. Don't miss the opportunity to conquer Skiddaw, one of England's highest peaks, or explore the enchanting Whinlatter Forest Park, home to various cycling trails and a Go Ape adventure course. The market town of Keswick is a 5minute drive or a scenic walk away with shops, bars, restaurants, cafes, parks with tennis and crazy golf, attractions, cinema and the Theatre by the Lake. Leisurely cruises can be enjoyed on Derwentwater or hire a rowing boat and explore on your own. It feels like home from home, really well kitted out with everything you could want. The quality of the cookware was really good, the speck of the oven/microwave etc was top notch. And the shower was fabulous. So a hot day climbing mountains gets washed off with ease and comfort. I would thoroughly recommend a stay here to anyone visiting the Lakes. There is a big kitchen, a cosy living room and there are beautiful views from the house. The garden was lovely. You can go on walks straight from the front door or walk to a busstop less than 5 minutes away. The Village Shop is a few minutes away by foot and has fresh bread, delicious cakes and more. Jul 2, 2024 #### Lovely stay once again at Hill Cottage Lovely stay once again at Hill cottage and so lucky with the weather. Lovely garden and location although a mirror to see what is coming around the corner when driving in and out of the property would be useful as some cyclists and drivers come down that road so fast! Very well equipped, spacious and clean but some milk in the fridge and a couple of teabags would have been welcome on arrival. On previous stays there was always a welcome pack. Wine or biscuits are nice but a cup of tea is essential! We have stayed a few times now and look forward to coming again.
