Great family space
11 members of my family stayed at Moon Shadow during Winter Break. The house provided a wonderful space for us to socialize, with comfortable sleeping accommodations for everyone. The house matched exactly how the pictures advertise it to be, and there was even an additional sitting space on the second floor that my family labeled “the lounge”. Being a large open space with tile floors, when people were talking and/or the tv was on downstairs, the sound was echoey and loud; if people wanted quiet time they retreated outside or upstairs.
The kitchen had all the plates, bowls, mugs, silverware, and utensils we needed to prepare and eat family-style meals for 11-15 people. The host provided additional tables and chairs in the garage, which we set up in the dining room and had plenty of space to eat our meals all together.
The outside area was very private and featured the pool, hot tub, swingset, grill, and sitting spaces exactly as depicted in the ad. We spent hours and hours enjoying this space during our stay. Be advised to notify the host in advance of your stay if you want the pool heated; there is a surcharge associated with heating the pool, and it does take a long time to heat up. The firepits and pool lights were easy to operate.
The house is in a gated and guarded community, so all guests of the house need to be registered to enter. When we had to add names to the registration before and during our stay, David was responsive and this process went smoothly.
The house has a lot of light switches and power outlets that didn’t seem useable – or, we couldn’t figure out if switches powered outlets, or what some of the switches powered at all, and some of the power outlets didn’t seem to work for us. We didn’t spend much time troubleshooting this challenge, but we would recommend adding labels to meaningful switches.
Overall, spending 7 days in a house with 11 people always has its challenges, but Moon Shadow was a great place for us to enjoy exactly that. We enjoyed our stay, and we all survived to tell about it.
