Nommée d’après une falaise rocheuse de 9mètres (30pieds) de hauteur située entre la route côtière et la mer, la ville dégage une ambiance charmante à l’ancienne. Marchez le long de la plage de sable agréable de la ville et profitez-en pour vous y prélasser. Vous remarquerez une poignée de clubs sur plage le long du rivage où vous pouvez aller prendre un repas léger ou une boisson. Continuez sur la plage au-delà du cimetière pour vous rendre à l’emblématique phare aux rayures rouges et blanches de la ville. Le faux phare fut érigé vers la fin des années1990 et appartient à la petite chapelle située juste en face. Fait intéressant, le phare a figuré à une époque sur l’étiquette de la bière High Rock de la Bahamian Brewery. Sans surprise, l’Église n’a pas approuvé cette association à la marque de bière et le phare fut ensuite remplacé par une bouée sur l’étiquette. High Rock est un excellent point de départ pour explorer le parc national Lucayan. Cet impressionnant parc de bord de mer de 16hectares (40acres) englobe plusieurs écosystèmes différents, y compris une forêt de pins, une forêt de feuillus, une forêt de palétuviers, un taillis rocheux et une plage. Suivez le sentier Creek.
