Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Haux?
The best area to stay in Haux is within the village centre itself, particularly around the church and main square.

This central area is the heart of Haux, offering a concentrated experience of the village's charm. You'll find the local boulangerie, a few small shops, and the village's only restaurant, all within a short stroll. The narrow, winding streets lead to the impressive Eglise Saint-Martin, which often hosts local events. It's a very walkable area, great for experiencing daily village life.

Couples looking for a quiet and romantic escape will find the village centre ideal. The pace of life here is slow, great for enjoying long, leisurely meals, exploring the local vineyards on foot, or simply relaxing with a glass of Bordeaux wine. Many of the guesthouses and B&Bs are housed in beautifully restored stone buildings, adding to the romantic appeal.

For those planning to explore the Bordeaux wine region, staying in the village centre provides a convenient and picturesque base. You're within easy driving distance of numerous renowned vineyards and châteaux, and the local shop can help with recommendations or even arrange tastings.
When is the best time to go to Haux?
The best time to visit Haux is during the late spring and early autumn months, specifically May, June, September, and early October, when the weather is most pleasant for exploring the region.

May and June offer warm, sunny days superb for vineyard tours and outdoor activities without the peak summer crowds. The countryside is lush and green, and the grapevines are beginning to flourish.

September and early October are ideal for experiencing the grape harvest, known as the vendanges. The weather remains mild and agreeable, making it a wonderful time to visit local wineries and see the winemaking process firsthand.
