Spectacular views await you as you listen to abundant sounds of the natural water that rolls through this ranch. As you sit on the private beach with your toes in the sand and look at the views, you truly feel like you are getting away with something. This property is unlike any other vacation rental you will find and truly a destination with its own private features. Please come and join us. The owners of this property also own the ranch next door which can be added if you need more space. It can be found if you search for One of Kind, Perfect Mountain Retreat Please check out other property It sleeps 16 more. This property is within 1/2 mile of this cabin and its all on private land. With both properties you could sleep 26\. We plow the road but all wheel drive are needed for winter months. This ranch is an amazing place with things to do that you would never find at a normal vacation rental. 5 ponds with natural water rolling through the ranch. Each property has its own exclusive pond which is stocked with fish. There is also 1 other common pond stocked and 2 other ponds that are not. Wildlife can be found everywhere and it\`s hard to not see deer and elk enjoying the ranch. We have our own hiking trails on the ranch which are open threw out the 750 acres. Also, national forest access is very nearby with more hiking and exploring opportunities. Please check house rules for some restricted dates from late September threw November for hunting which limits ranch use but the cabin is still open for use during these times. I am a full time employee of the ranch. I am there most normal business days and provide a tour if you arrive during those time. Ranch tours are not guaranteed. I live in Gypsum and often pick things up for my guest and delivery them on my way up to the ranch. This no typical vacation rental by far. Not only do we have 750 acres of our own private land with our own woods and 5 ponds(3 stocked with fish) you also have the National Forest nearby for more exploring opportunities. We are a non motorized ranch except for the main road but do offer many hiking trails. We have a $75 pet fee which I will send you a special offer for once you indicate you have a pet. Please do this before you book so we don\`t have to charge you again, thanks 1\. Every guest will need to sign a Participant Liability Release Form before arrival. These forms will be emailed to your group leader 1 to 2 weeks prior to your visit. For children under 18 years of age, a legal guardian must sign the Participant Liability Form. This form is due 24 hours before for everyone in your party and must be emailed to sheps76@hotmail.com. Only registered guests who have signed the Participant Liability Release Form will be allowed on the property. This is a remote property and we do not have it staffed 24 hours a day, hence the importance of having your paperwork in a head of your visit. This makes for a smooth transition and allow for you and your party to come in and have immediate access to the ranch. You may incur fee if staff has to stay because your group is late or denied access to the property if paperwork has not done properly or is incomplete. Please scan photo ID with liability form and send from signers personal Email. Please put the name of person who booked in the subject line of your email.(example: Jane Doe, Cabin, June 12-15, wavier). Anyone who has not signed Release Forms and is on property is trespassing and will be prosecuted as a trespasser. 2 No discharge of firearm. 3 No hunting without permission 4 Atv and off-road vehicles are not allowed on our trail system. Snowmobiling is allowed but must stay off our cross county and snowshoe track. You may use them on our main road and access your exclusive pond. The national forest is nearby with plenty of places to rid them. Please trailer them to Sheep Creek to help us out with the neighbors. 5 no fireworks 6 Children must be supervised in and around all bodies of water this includes hot tubs, ponds, and creeks. 7 No lifeguards are on duty. You assume all risks to you and your child by engaging in any water activity. 8 During hunting seasons in the fall full access to the ranch will be restricted. The cabin would be open but the ranch would be closed. We didn't get to explore as much as we wanted, but you don't have to go any further than the deck to enjoy the view. The cabin itself is also very nice. There was only two of us, but it has three separate sleeping areas that would be nice for multiple couples or a friends' retreat. When we had a couple of minor issues, Jeff was very responsive. My husband and I wanted some quiet time in a beautiful location and this cabin met and exceeded every expectation. Truly, pictures cannot do the views justice. We were constantly in awe every time we stepped onto the porch, which looked like it was out of a movie with the rocking chairs and all. We spent as much time outside as we could and hiked the ranch’s private road. It felt like a peaceful mountain hike and we didn’t see another soul the entire time. I’ve never been able to have our dogs off leash with us like that and it was a truly wonderful experience. If it ever got too cold out we just hopped in the hot tub and continued to enjoy the view. We also had a fire going most evenings and absolutely appreciated the firewood. It was such a nice touch and really amped up the cozy vibes. I’m not sure we’ve been as relaxed as we were at the cabin in a long while. All practical concerns were more than met too. The internet worked well, there’s a TV, the beds are comfy, there are tons of blankets, all basic cooking necessities (and nice appliances!), and the house felt so cozy the entire time. I definitely recommend bringing everything the packing list mentions. We really loved having our robes and flip flops to walk back and forth to the hot tub. Indoor slippers are a must because your shoes will definitely get dirty (bring hiking boots!). If you have dogs, then I’d recommend bringing your own towels, shampoo, and a brush. We could not keep our dogs out of the ponds and were so happy to have our own towels and supplies to bathe and dry them without worrying about getting the indoor towels dirty. There are a few bushes with stickers near the house and we constantly were brushing them out so were also happy we brought some rubber work gloves with us. We are already talking about coming back as soon as we can and I think one of our friends is going to book based on our pictures alone! This place is in a magnificent setting with miles-long views in every direction; It was our BEST vacation rental yet. If you want stunning landscapes, endless skies, private trails, ponds, streams & roads to explore, THIS is your place. The great cabin offers comfort and convenience for those few moments you'll want to be inside. We brought books but we could not take our eyes off of the view - when on the deck or in the cabin, the distant cliffs and peaks demand your attention. The crystal-clear hot tub beckons you to watch the night sky. The SUP boards and kayak await you on one of your private ponds. The kitchen is well-appointed and efficient with quality cookware, appliances, dishes and any gadget you may need. It's very narrow - 2 people must coordinate carefully. But good luck getting anything done with the Northward view of the FlatTops right out your kitchen window! Or cooking at the stove when Castle Peak is lookin at you just across the dining table. Even during the monsoon rains, you can be outside under the deck roof overhang. We had one chilly evening (in July!) so we got to use the fireplace. Yes, there were flies and bugs during the heat of the day, but they disappear along with the sun. Yes, there were LOTS of bugs at the pond, but most of them were beautiful electric-blue dragon flies. Also be prepared for some aggressively feisty hummingbirds! They were not happy when I removed the feeder for sanitizing & re-filling (1 part cane sugar to 4 parts boiled water and NOTHING else) and an intense battle commenced for the fresh nectar. Yup, saw 2 bears during our stay. One watched us from the ridge and then turned and ambled over the horizon - what a thrilling relief! Jeff was very helpful and responsive. He was very respectful of our privacy, but he also offered help & logistics if we ever needed him. AT&T cell service was sketchy and the internet is slow (that's NOT why you go to Windance) also Jeff is working somewhere on the ranch each day, but he always responded to us. We hope to return to Windance Cabin. If we ever win the lotto we will try to buy it! LOL. If you're looking for a pampered, luxurious material experience this may not be the place for you. If you want a private, secluded & comfy home base to play & explore your staggeringly beautiful surroundings, make plans for Windance. ##### Melissa C. It’s an amazing cabin located far up in a remote location, with the most beautiful views. We felt very welcomed and enjoyed the porch overlooking the vast property and hot tub. Our dogs enjoyed the hiking around the property and watching all the wildlife. Bonus hummingbirds are everywhere and come to visit on the back porch. The property manager gives a detailed welcome email but do know that if you need to go towards Glenwood springs 70 west/east gets shut down for any storms or serious accidents. We walked, hiked, and used the paddle boards and the canoes. The hot tub was definitely used and loved!! We also had several bean bags tournaments and grilled. The fire pit was a winner and the kids had s’mores. Fun for all ages. If you want an outdoor experience this is the place. We drove into Glenwood Springs which took us about 50 minutes. Our arrival was through a snowstorm and Jeff was on top of having the road plowed for our arrival (he kept in good communication with us as we drove to the cabin from the Denver area). Definitely in the winter, you need to have a vehicle with AWD/4WD --- as other reviewers have said, this is truly a cabin in the middle of nowhere with the nearest town (and a small one at that) being \~30 minutes drive. Of course, this is exactly what we were looking for. It proceeded to snow every day, and we enjoyed hikes, snowshoeing, playing games by the fireplace, and just staring at the amazing views of snow-covered mountains. Saw many deer (maybe some elk? in the distance), and horses roaming the ranch. Our dog loved playing fetch in the driveway to the cabin (of course in the snow). This will be Christmas to remember for our family. ##### David D. This is the only place I’ve stayed where this is true. We loved watching the moon rise in our Private hot tub. The view in all directions is spectacular. The private beach that can be driven to ended up being our favorite 1.5 mile hike. We didn’t even run into other hikers in Flat Tops Wilderness area. There are numerous trailheads into Flat Tops within 15 minutes to the house. The kitchen is well supplied including condiments, spices and any utensils you may need. We were so pleased when we drove up the drive and saw the buildings nestled in aspen groves, and even happier when we walked in and saw the roomy and inviting interior. It easily accommodated our large group. There is a large refrigerator and also freezer in the garage which meant we had plenty of room for food, and the kitchen was well-stocked. Between the large dining table and the outdoor deck table, everyone could sit to eat at once. The master bedroom is heavenly with a gorgeous view, and the two large bedrooms easily accommodated parents and a couple of kids. The bunk room was a hit with our young grandchildren. But best of all was the gorgeous property, with fishing ponds (complete with paddle boards and kayaks!), trails (one made by Jeff with his mower ithrough the tall grasses and marked with red ribbons that was perfect for the kids), the barn with games, fire pit, hot tub, and a bocce ball court. We filled every day to the brim and still didn’t see or do everything that was available. Jeff, the property manager, was easily reached with any issues. Lots of hikes and wildlife. Jeff is very easy to communicate with. However, the internet really only supported email, which made streaming Netflix or Zoom meetings impossible. As my husband had to work during the stay, this was an unpleasant surprise. We had no cell service. Additionally, as we were not from Colorado, we were not aware that I-70 in Glenwood Canyon closes at every threat of rain (and definitely after rain due to mudslides). We would not have booked this cabin had we known at least half of our plans would have to be cancelled due to the inability to commute to them through the canyon. Lastly, the drive from the cabin to I70 was 40 minutes. So, it is ideally suited for those who do not wish to leave its premises. ##### Anna R. What a wonderful visit and location - this truly is a gem. There were two families who stayed (4 adults, 4 kids ages 2-5, and 2 dogs), and we had plenty of space. The upstairs loft was a great spot for the kids to sleep, and the 'nook' upstairs was a favorite for them to play and read. And not to mention the property as well! Tons of space, a great pond with amenities for exploring it (we loved the kayak), and the STARS. A magical part of being there is how isolated it is, so at night there are no lights on for miles around...except for the stars above. The hot tub was a great place to hang at night, and the porch was wonderful during the day - one day I sat out there with my kids as a thunderstorm rolled through (with hail!), and it was a really special moment. It was also wonderful to be so close to the Colorado river for some river fun, and we were also able to get to do some fishing in Gypsum and an excursion to Vail. Jeff was a great host - there was a little delay at first in setting up the forms for arriving (you have to fill one out for each visitor), but he was responsive to our questions while were there and checked in to see if we needed anything often.
