Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Fornes?
The best area to stay in Fornes is within the village centre itself, as it offers the most convenient access to local amenities and a genuine experience of village life.

The village of Fornes is small and compact, located in the Sierra de Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama Natural Park. Its streets are narrow and winding, typical of Andalusian white villages, with most properties offering views of the surrounding mountains or the nearby Lake Bermejales. The main square, Plaza del Ayuntamiento, is a focal point, often bustling with local life, and you'll find a few small shops and traditional eateries dotted around.

For couples seeking a peaceful escape with opportunities for outdoor activities, staying directly in Fornes is ideal. You'll be right on the doorstep of numerous hiking and cycling trails within the natural park, and the tranquil Lake Bermejales is just a short drive away, great for swimming or kayaking. The village provides a quiet base to explore the stunning natural surroundings.

Families will also find Fornes appealing due to its relaxed pace and access to nature. Children can enjoy exploring the local trails, and the lake offers a great spot for water-based fun without the crowds found in larger resorts.
When is the best time to go to Fornes?
The best time to go to Fornes is typically during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) months.

These periods offer pleasant temperatures, making it ideal for exploring the natural beauty of the area without the intense heat of summer. You'll find the countryside lush and green in spring, superb for hiking or enjoying the local flora.

Couples looking for a relaxing escape will appreciate the tranquil atmosphere and comfortable weather for leisurely walks or enjoying meals al fresco. The fewer crowds during these shoulder seasons also contribute to a more intimate experience.

Families will find these times excellent for outdoor activities.
