This ideal mountain vacation cabin is 10 minutes from downtown Durango, 12 minutes from Lake Nighthorse, 16 minutes to Hesperus Ski Area and 40 minutes to Purgatory Ski Resort. The woods are your backyard where wildlife abounds. Lake Nighthorse is open to swimming, fishing, boating and more, spanning more than 1,500 acres. The lake offers endless opportunities for fun or relaxation: How you enjoy the waters is up to you. Enjoy the convenience of a fully equipped kitchen after a long day of playing in the mountains. It had everything we needed for the two night stay. It was extremely hot when we arrived. Seemed to take a bit before the house cooled off for bed time. I forget not all homes in Colorado have A/C. This one has a portable unit in the living room. We slept with the windows cracked. If you are not used to roosters, be prepared! The neighbors have chickens/roosters. Those roosters were definitely up when the sun came up. So not much sleeping in, but that was ok since we had plans. Also not sure if I needed it on the descriptions, but it’s well water. So be prepared for the sulfur smell. They do offer r/o water in the kitchen for cooking, and drinking. There was an issue with ants in one of the rooms. We notified the contact number. We found some ant spray in the garage and took care of it. Overall, it was a nice little cabin. We enjoyed the board games and the corn hole game. ##### Jenni G. Location is great - out of the city but close enough. Only very small complaint was the sulphur smell in the water. Drinking water is absolutely fine and lots of extra provided. This is just a natural part of well water but could be a problem for some with an aversion to it. The window views are gorgeous and the heated master bath floor is a surprise treat! Everyone in our group (grandparents to teens) agree this was the ideal place for our trip. Handy enough to enjoy the activities in/around Durango while also getting to enjoy being on our own in the mountains.
