We recently stayed here at the end of our tour of the UK. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay and would receommend it to anyone visiting the area. I had selected this Inn as it was close to Highclere Castle (aka Downtown Abbey) as we were going there the next day. Upon arrival we were greeted by the bar manager and quickly shown to our room. The room was great -- bed was comfy and plenty of room for two travellers with too much luggage!! We had drinks once we settled in outside in the garden. It...

The Dolphin

Check-in and check-out were incredibly easy. The room and the washroom, were quite spacious and clean. The complimentary coffee and tea were nice, and they also have a nice selection of juices and breakfast foods available downstairs for guests to enjoy. The slight downsides were the hair dry being quite dusty when I tried to use it, and the building is rather old so the windows had a slight draft. This wasn't an issue for us during the summer, but I can see it being slightly cold in the winter....

This is a very clean inn. Very helpful and friendly staff. Food is good. This would be a great place to stay in cooler weather. It is in walking distance to Highclere Castle. There was a heatwave going on when we stayed there. Our room was very hot. Not only was the sun blazing in for hours, bouncing off the slate roof, but we were above the kitchen with the heat from the kitchen rising. The inn is not air conditioned and when we asked for a fan, there was not one in the building. We opened...

The staff were amazing, the room was clean and the food was tasty. It's located right in the heart of the town, so the antiques shops were moments away and I had a blast. There's a super convenient long term car park by the train station with a foot path that comes out right near the hotel so it was easy to park and bring bags in. Can't say enough about how lovely the staff were. It was a busy weekend and they were possibly understaffed but all did a great job.
