![Three months ago there was a major earthquake which hit Kumamoto. Takachiho Gorge is in Kumamoto prefecture. I was scheduled to arrive some 2 weeks later but had to postpone trip till now coz many roads were damaged.

Currently some part of this gorge is still closed. The boat rowing below also closed as water is too high I was told. Still, it's been a place I had wanted to see for many years and am happy to finally made it and hence marked the completion of my tour of all the 47 prefectures   of Japan! Hurray!!!

Without the boats and people in the water, it is a little difficult to appreciate how big the gorge is! May be next time!

In terms of amenities, everything you can think of is there. The host is very kind and helpful and very quick to respond to messages. "期待してなかった割によかったです。予め依頼していたからなのか掃除はある程度行き届いてました。 ただ、当日までオーナーさんと連絡取れずに施設の詳細も聞くことは出来ずに不安を抱えたままでの宿泊でした。細かい事が気にならない方は楽しめると思います！"

"子ども2人と私の3人で利用させていただきました。一棟建ての宿をいろいろ泊まってきましたが、花hanaさんは設備が至れり尽くせりで大満足でした♪子どもがベッド派と畳派に分かれてるので、ベッドルームも和室も並んであって助かりました。暖炉も初めて使いましたが、チェックイン時に説明もありますが、詳しく書いた説明書もあったので、それを見つつ薪をくべたりしました。 宿までの道のりは道が狭いですが、肥後寿司さんの近くの筋から上に上がっていくのが一番近い道のようです。"
