About this property
One Level Log Home on 3.5 Acres, Beautiful Views, Newly Updated
Description:
Beautiful three bedroom, two bath, log home with new modern amenities. An open floor plan that allows family and friends to inclusively prepare meals while enjoying wonderful views of the natural beauty from every window and the crackling of the fireplace and/or while watching the 65” television with free Wi-Fi internet access. Two king size beds and one queen over queen bunk bed.
For those looking for alone time, there is an open air three season reading room ideal for phone calls, work or simply reading a book in an oversized leather chair with a cup of hot coffee or a chilled adult beverage.
The kitchen has pots, pans, plates, utensils, etc. to create memorable vacation meals and offers a healthy economical alternative to eating meals at local restaurants. Also, unlike many of the rural homes in the Black Hills area, there is excellent well water available from the tap. In fact, most folks choose to bottle our fresh ice cold tap water for their day trips.
COVID-19:
Please follow the current recommended PPE protocols during the time of travel.
Weather Considerations and Access:
The weather in South Dakota, although unpredictable, is beautiful. The air is fresh with moderate temperatures during the summer months. Occasional afternoon showers will not be an access concern, unlike many rentals in the Black Hills having miles of dirt roads, because the house has a paved driveway. No cause for concern with the summer hail as the house has an overly large attached two car garage available for parking your personal car, motorcycle and/or the rental car.
Wildlife:
Almost daily, deer frequent the yard in the evenings, bluebirds abound and squirrels playfully chatter from the trees.
Additional Amenities:
We have fishing poles available for kids to enjoy the free fishing, for those 12 years of age or younger, in the many nearby lakes, without parents having to invest in this gear for a one time vacation outing. Lawn chairs and coolers are also made available. For those with toddlers or babies, we provide a Pack-n-Play and a booster seat for the car.
Local Access:
The house is less than 1 mile from the community golf course, 3 miles from downtown Custer, 3 miles from a new 76 bed community hospital, 6 miles from the Custer State Park entrance, 9 miles from Crazy Horse Memorial, 20 miles from Mt. Rushmore and 72 miles of beautiful Black Hills riding to Sturgis. In fact, the best riding in the Black Hills is in the Custer area through the Needles Highway.

Everything was clean and well-stocked. Hosts were great to communicate with and very accommodating. Loved that there was not a huge to-do list at checkout!
Great property with excellent location in Custer. Quiet, relaxing and great proximity to Custer, the park and Black Hill sites. Definitely recommend this property and the host. They really go the extra mile in making it a great stay!
My family stayed here for a short get away and loved it. The house was perfect for my husband and I but also for our young children. Everything from booking to checking in and out was seamless. Highly recommend this place to stay!
We were fortunate to enjoy a variety of weather conditions that allowed us to soak up the sun on the deck, enjoy cool breezes on the screened in porch, and cozy up to a fire in the fireplace during a light late spring snow. We had a clear view to the snow on the Cathedral Spires of Needles Highway from the screened in porch - lovely. There is so much to appreciate about this property - it's location, it's positioning off the highway but visible from it, its proximity to groceries and fabulous dining, its paved driveway and usable garages, and its multiple outdoor spaces for morning coffee and afternoon lunches. An incredibly thoughtful owner. When you experience this level of hospitality, your ONLY response should be to respect the property, its belongings, and exit it with the same level of thoughtfulness and care as the owner. Our bed and bedding was so comfortable that I had the best sleep on any vacation I've had in a long time. In short, we'll be back and it can't come soon enough.
Beautifully remodeled home. It is stocked so well with essentials. Didn't receive keypad information prior to check-in but host answered my phone call and got me the information immediately. Love the proximity to Custer and southern Black Hills. Would love to stay again!
We really enjoyed our stay! The house was well stocked, comfortable, clean and close to everything we wanted to do while in the area. It was perfect for our family. Thank you!
Custer House was a wonderful place to stay while we explored the area. It was peaceful being just outside of town, but close enough to the area aytractions. The amenities were welcome. We were able to enjoy ourselves.
The house was wonderful. Very clean and had everything we needed plus a few extras! We didn’t cook in the house, but if had needed to it had all we needed and more! The host was great to communicate with if we had questions. Our kids loved the telescope that was there to check out the night sky, and all the games! We would definitely choose this location again!
Everything about the house was great. Great location, filled with everything we would need for our whole stay, including air conditioning when it was 100+ degrees everyday. Great proximity to all major landmarks and places to visit.
We loved staying at this cabin. It was plenty large for our family and we enjoyed the peace and quiet of the neighborhood. The wood fireplace made for a cozy stay. It had everything we needed and was the perfect place to enjoy our time in the black hills.
Arlene is a wonderful Host! She is so kind and accommodating!
The house is awesome… extremely clean and so cozy on a winter’s night! We loved our stay and will definitely go back!
This property has room to stretch your legs. Perfect for pets and children to be safe outside. As stated in other reviews, this is the most stocked home, just like you're in your own home. We would love to stay again.
We stayed in this wonderful home for a few nights while exploring Custer State Park. What a blessing to come "home" to this comfy, clean, beautiful house after busy days outdoors! I highly recommend this home. Easy check in/check out process. Plus, the three season room was perfect to take break and read a book!
Great location. Close to Custer State Park and Crazy Horse and Mt Rushmore. Black Hills area is beautiful in the fall. Some attractions and restaurants were closed for the season but the overall beauty at this time of year was unbeatable.
We love this property. This is the second summer in a row we’ve stayed here and everyone has nothin but good things to say about the house. It’s perfect for us as we love Custer and it’s close enough to everything we want to visit. We will be back!
We were very happy with this property and the log house was everything they said it was on line! We were pleasantly surprised on how stocked the house was with everything you needed… the host Arlene was very accommodating and easy to get in touch with ! I would highly recommend this house to anyone visiting the custor area… great location to all the parks!
What a wonderful updated cabin. Very comfortable, with everything you could want. With a 3 1/2 acre yard, it is very private, yet a little over a mile from town. I’m very impressed. I definitely will utilize this home again.
Everything you’d ever need was there! Clean bedding and Towels. Great place for Family to gather. So nice
To have all of the amenities And Good coffee. Very pet friendly, too! Crayons and markers for kids. The hosts have thought of everything!
Thank you
This is an amazing home and property. The house sits on an incredible lot so there’s lots of room and great views. We have never stayed in a house that was so well stocked - everything you could possibly need or want! The house is beautiful and very clean and comfortable. Friendly neighbors and close to Custer and all the attractions. Hosts were very responsive to any questions we had. We would definitely come back!
This was are fist Vrbo and the host knocked it out of the park with the little extras that were provided for condiments. This experience may take us to rent Vrbo instead of hotels going forward. The wildlife and scenery around the cabin was beautiful. The host answered all questions quickly. If ever in the black hills area check out this place.
This log home was the perfect place for us to stay. Rooms beds and the kitchen were just what we needed. Well stocked (three different ways to make coffee). Never turned on the large TV ( that pulls down to a better viewing level ) above the fire place. Great location! Arlene is easy to communicate with.
I’d recommend it to anyone.
