Fairy Slipper at Academy Place

  • Academy Place Fairy Slipper is located around the beautiful Academy Place Courtyard in downtown Crested Butte, Colorado. Its prime location downtown provides easy access to nearly everything that Crested Butte has to offer, from local restaurants to mountain biking trails, from bus transportation to the mountain to souvenir shops. Academy Place is centrally located between Elk Avenue, the main street, and the commercial area with the local grocery store and movie theater. Bus stops for both the Mountain Express and RTA are an extremely short walk from Fairy Slipper, though its location off of the alley provides ample privacy.

    Fairy Slipper is a cottage, meaning you would rent the entire home for yourself! It is a three bedroom, ideal for larger families with adult children or groups of couples. This is due to it having a King bed, two Queen beds, and a sleeper sofa rather than twin beds. Going upstairs upon entry reveals the primary bedroom with a King bed and ensuite bathroom containing a large tub and steam shower. On the main floor, you will find a fully equipped kitchen with large appliances and cookware, a spacious dining table and a large living room with a gas fireplace. Downstairs on the lower level are the other two bedrooms, both with Queen beds and ensuite bathrooms.

    Fairy Slipper also has a full sized washer and dryer, onsite parking for two cars in addition to available street parking, and a large living room with a Smart TV and Sonos for music. Each bedroom has its own TV as well for cozy entertainment. The outside space includes a private porch with an outdoor propane grill. The beautiful porch borders the courtyard, giving access to a shared outdoor area within Academy Place. Please note that this unit does not have air conditioning.

    Compared to the other Academy Place units, Fairy Slipper is more suitable for those looking for larger beds rather than twin or bunk beds. Additionally, it is accessible via the alley, which provides more privacy and less traffic, and is further from the road. It is frequently booked with Bluebell in the Alley Bundle, including both cottages in a larger rental for a bigger group looking for more than one adjacent cottage.

Best place in Crested Butte

This beautiful home exceeded all expectations. We loved everything about it. Well equipped, perfectly located and spotless. The crew at the management office were efficient funny and super helpful. I can’t wait to come back.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: It was very nice, we enjoyed staying on the property and will return next summer for a month. The kitchen had everything we needed, the neighbors were quiet. The property is very centrally located. My only criticism is around the bed sheets- they were very rough and felt quite cheap for such a high end, expensive lodging option. Next year since we are staying so long, we might bring our own bed sheets or hope they move to something nicer for the level of guest experience they are otherwise providing.

Great location - really close to a stop where you can ride the bus up to the ski basin. Super clean and fantastic kitchen with all of the high end, quality things you need for a great stay. Thoughtful offerings of things you need for your stay (coffee, soaps, etc.). Easy check in and helpful instructions from management. We would definitely stay here again!

Gorgeous Crested Butte Accommodations

The location is ideal, just steps from the free shuttle bus, and a 5 minute walk to all the restaurants and bars in downtown Crested Butte. The managers took great care of us and everything was as advertised. We would definitely stay here again.

Great location and wonderful new build out but noise problem

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We really like the place but we did have two issues that we reported and want to make sure we’re reported. The first one is it was very noisy in the morning. The crew was working with power tools beginning at 7 AM which is not workable if you’re trying to sleep in. So that’s problem number one. Problem number two. The washer would not work to drain the water out so we had to go to a different unit to wash our clothes. Which is also not fun.Issue We were in contact with the management agency while we were there and they kept saying someone was gonna come fix it but no one ever did. As result at the end of the day I sent a note and asked if we could get some sort of a credit for example, and credit of one free night, but no one ever responded and that was upsetting. We did like the place. It was very nice and new and clean. And great location, of course. But these two problems were a problem for us. It would make us feel treated fairly to have one night free on this day. So we are asking for a refund of one night as result of the excessive noise beginning at 7 AM and then the washer not working.
