Stayed between Christmas and New Years and truly enjoyed the amenities and allowing our 2 dogs to accompany us. While it was cold and snowy/icy outside, the radiant flooring kept the house perfectly comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked for coffee, tea, and serving meals at the home. Beds were very clean and comfortable. The quiet and private setting in the woods with a peek of the Saco river, with the beautiful views outside the many windows was just what our family was looking for to relax and unwind from the holidays. It was awesome to feel so private and in nature but be a short drive to Portland and all it has to offer. Highly recommend this home and hope to stay again in the future. ##### Corinna P. We loved sitting by the open fire in the incredible fireplace that is the center piece of the living room. The house is filled with unique thoughtful touches throughout and has a european flare to it, as you might guess from the name. The location is quiet and secluded as the title says (which is what we like) but still close to Old Orchard Beach and Portland. We went to Kennebunkport for the Christmas Prelude festival and enjoyed walking around the town and exploring the local shops. Negatives - photos are old & misleading. The written description misleading. The lighting was less than stellar, very dim...had to go out to Walmart and buy a reading lamp. The Glass Room was unusable due to strong musty odor. The TV was 9' high in the air. It took 7 hours to dry a medium size load of wash. We were not tempted to use the outdoor gas grill as it did not appear to be cleaned in a "long" time. The path way to the water was Steep! The path way to the the dock area was over grown and surrounding the dock was fallen limbs, trees & debris making it difficult to launch the kayak & inflatable boat which we did bring down the hill. Spent time cleaning up the debris in & out of the water around the dock. The aluminum canoe that was there did not look at all to be water worthy. Did not see the boat lift option. Bringing the kayak & inflatable back up the hill was not for the faint of heart. Regarding communication with the host, there was no response to an email that was sent to him asking if a "veteran's discount" available. There was no emergency contact information/telephone numbers to call should a plumbing, heating, electrical, etc. emergency event occur. \*\* Please call before posting feedback. The location is ideally situated in a private and quiet location, but within a short drive to local attractions and shops. The location is good close to markets and Portland as well as beaches in OOB.I do have a few comments about the place:1\. The house has only 1 1/2 bathrooms if you plan on a few friends spend the night it might take some time to get everyone a shower in the AM.2\. The dryer is a comdensating dryer which means a dryer that uses a heat exchanger to condense water from the humid air inside the dryer and collect it in a tank or drain it away. This type of dryer takes forever to dry your clothes.3\. The two futon sofa/bed in the main room are the most uncomfortable things I have every sat on.With that said the house was wonderful for our stay with our pet and I would recommend a stay to anyone. ##### Ken C. The home is a unique labor of love with lots of interesting designs. The kids especially enjoyed the trail down to the dock. I loved all the fireflies in the evening. The house is stocked with everything you could need and an abundance of towels and bedding. This place was convenient for our baseball tournament in the Old Orchard Beach area. ##### Heather M. The home is well equipped and very comfortable ! Went on walking trails - all within 30 minutes from the house- the river and sunset on the dock were amazing ! Prettiest sunsets I’ve ever seen / the colors were so vibrant . The only negative of the entire stay was the screened in porch smelled terribly of cats - we couldn’t use it - but we just kept the door shut and used the rest of the house !!
