My date to stay was 25 Dec to 26 Dec when I had to find accommodation at short notice since a rental was not ready. An excellent choice, where I had stayed many years ago. My daughter located it. Tea was available in the evening. All the New Yorkers I could want for an evening of reading. The breakfast was outstanding and was still being served at nearly 10 a.m. I loved having a real bathtub, and using it. It was easy to sleep deep and long -- what else could you want? And books - everywhere you encounter evidence of a management that honors readers, writers and reading. AND honors guests. Thank you!! And did I say the location was ideal? From 1910 to 1940 it was a dorm for Harvard University, and it retains its homey feeling - no fluorescent lights and shopping mall look here! Staff are fantastic. Location is perfect for Harvard. Rooms and shared bathrooms are periodically cleaned. Breakfast is good with just enough options. Coffee and cookies served all day to guests. Lobby has desks if needed and luggage storage. Only complaints are that the neighbors can be loud (not something the B&B can control) and the overall place is a bit older. This gives it a great home-y feel but also means the pillows are flat as if they have been run over by a semi. If you want swanky this is not your place, but if you want exceptional service and location paired with more than acceptable accommodations this is the spot.
