The lakebed can be sandy or stoney depending on what the lake gives you that day. But it sure is fun to try to find the ever changing sandbars. Generally you will find sand 3ft out. It's fun to go stone collecting - Lake Huron is a geologists paradise! Just bring some water shoes. The nice thing is, it's not weedy or slimy at all. Jennifer didn't disappoint and found the perfect cottage for me and my water loving lab, Kona. The cottage was beautiful (more like an upscale house) in a private community 5 minutes from Bayfield. The cottage is lovely and well appointed , much larger than we expected, with extremely comfortable beds and furnishings! Our goal was to enjoy the lake and area sights , which we did! Great wineries/cidaries, restaurants , farmer markets , apiaries, shopping and local parks/ beaches filled our time to overflowing ! We enjoyed our strolls along the lake with the dogs !
