About this property

Historic intown waterfront w/PRIVATE dock & pool on 8.5 acres.

  • Built in 1800 as a ship builder's home on 8.5 acres, this property boasts a PRIVATE salt water pier and inground pool. The house has a fully remodeled and equipped kitchen, a large jacuzzi tub with flat screen TV in master bath. There are lovely views of the grounds, hills and water from the entire back and side of the home. Perfect home for families. Large windows in the master bedroom make it easy to spot bald eagles and gaze at the water for hours! This house, on the edge of town has plenty of space to walk , hike or bike. The walking/biking trail which goes into the town center is right at your doorstep. It is also directly across from a nature preserve with walking trails. A private pier on our waterfront allows for wonderful salt water dips on warm afternoons and is great for nature watching.

Secluded yet located in town: A large deck spans the rear of the home and connects with a screened in porch. A private pool on the property is just what is needed for cooling off in the summertime. Private ~yet in-town ~ you can walk to anything in this lovely quaint city. Within a few blocks, you can dine at several wonderful cafes / bakeries and restaurants, grab an ice cream, shop, visit art galleries, take in a movie at the local theatre, or watch the action at the town dock. A town park offers free tennis courts, wonderful playground, a pool, and a beach.

Waterfront activities: Fishing poles, lifejackets, kayaks on site & ready to go! Very safe boating since the house is located on the inner harbor. Take a boat up into the river or downtown for a refreshment. We have a resident pair of Loons which you can watch as they catch their meals. Eagles and Ospray soar above, competing for fish. Even an occasional seal will pop up. Please remember most of Maine is wilderness with wild life all around. There are insects like mosquitoes and spiders. There are frogs, toads and turtles that call the land their home. Occasionally spiders, mice and bats make their way into the house. We do not intentionally host them so please don’t freak out if you see one. They are harmless creatures.

and more.: Picnic on the dock, fields or the gazeebo. Take a nap in the bunkhouse overlooking the water. Check out the pear and apple trees located on the property. Identify the bird calls. There is something for everyone.

The Belfast walking/biking trail is located right at the edge of the property. The path takes you north, away from town along the water or south along the water into Belfast center. The convenience of your own path along the water taking you into town is unique.

Also located about 100 yards to the north of the main house is also a 1 bedroom plus loft bed, 1.5 bath cottage overlooking the water on the north end of Riverbend. If you have extra company or your family needs more space, this is the place for you. You will never forget your stay at Riverbend Estate. Cottage is additional $250-350 per night.

Family Get-away at a great Property

The property is as described and is perfect for a large group. There is plenty of common space but also large enough that if you are looking for some alone time you can have it. The property is very large with several out buildings and a dock at the river.

Stunning property, incredible location, felt like a real home not a house just made to be a rental. So much charm and character. Thoughtful details throughout. The dock, the bike path to town, the pool, the house itself— all epic. We had a fabulous week as a family.

Beautiful historic home

We took a "girls-only" trip with 7 of us. We loved everything about the property--the land was beautiful and the home was very nice. It was well-appointed and the owner, very accommodating. We had a special event and found the dining room to be perfect for a special event for a group of our size. The kitchen has been upgraded and was also well-supplied. We thoroughly enjoyed watching a mother fox and her pups, along with the chipmunks. We all highly recommend this property!

Our stay at Jon’s beautiful historic home was just wonderful. The gorgeous expansive property is set above the bay on a hillside covered with flower meadows, blackberry bushes and fruit trees as well as a lovely lawn area. Lots of space to sit outside for dining and lounging while taking in the beautiful view. The private dock is perfect for swimming and kayaking in the quiet bay. Our family also enjoyed lounging by and swimming in the pool. The historic house had plenty of room for our crew of 7 people and actually has 4 full (1 recently added en-suite) and 1 half bath. The master suite is incredible. We’ve stayed at dozens of vacation homes over the years and this was the best.

Fiftieth Anniversary Celebration

We found this beautiful home so welcoming for our family which ranges in ages from 4 years to 71years and gathering from Brunswick, Maine; Kansas; and Texas. The spaciousness of the home insured that everyone could have privacy when desired and many areas that were conducive to 6 adults and 6 children gathering together. The beauty of the park-like grounds was enjoyed by one and all. Even though the weather was cool, the children thoroughly enjoyed the pool. We most certainly would return again!
