The hotel categorically denied that and of course it was impossible for us to prove the theft It is easy to imagine they do it on a regular basis simply because their guests are helpless and are not able to provide any evidence except the fact that their money is missing after a stay at the Grand Hotel Beijing. We don’t recommend anybody to stay at this place. The hotel is incredible and decorations are on par with an art gallery or museum. The staff is quite nice and always try hard to help. Breakfast was better than expected. Only wish is they would have better electrical outlets by the bed. It also smells as if the room was smoked in despite the ban. I suppose people ignore the rules. What makes the hotel stand out is the location!! Literally steps from Tiananmen Square!!! Beware if you choose a street view or Forbidden City room, it can be veeeery noisy. Tour buses literally show up at 4:30am and let tourists out. The hotel itself is a bit old and some of that is evident in the room.
