The best area to stay in Balot is directly in the village centre, particularly around the main square and along Rue de l'Église.

This central part of Balot is where you'll find the heart of the community. It's a small, quiet village, and the main square often features a small fountain or a war memorial, typical of many French villages. Rue de l'Église, as its name suggests, leads to the village church, which is often a focal point. Accommodation here typically consists of guesthouses or renovated farmhouses, offering a real taste of rural Bourgogne life.

For couples looking for a peaceful and authentic French countryside experience, staying in the village centre is ideal. You'll be within easy walking distance of any local amenities, such as a boulangerie or a small local shop, and it serves as a charming base for exploring the surrounding vineyards and historic sites.

The best time to go to Balot is during the late spring (May to June) and early autumn (September to October) months.

These periods offer pleasant weather for exploring the region's vineyards and countryside. You'll find warm, sunny days great for outdoor activities, but without the intense heat of mid-summer. The grapevines are either blooming beautifully in spring or showcasing their rich, autumnal colours in September and October, making for stunning scenery.

For those interested in wine tasting and vineyard tours, September and October are particularly appealing as they coincide with the grape harvest. Many wineries offer special events and a chance to see the winemaking process in full swing, providing a more in-depth experience.

If you prefer fewer crowds and slightly cooler temperatures, late spring is ideal. The gardens are in full bloom, and the region feels fresh and inviting.
