"This little known gem, situated about 10 minutes from Egletons on the D16, in the delightfully rural Correze, is well worth a visit. If itā€™s peace, calm and tranquility you seek - this is it. Relatively unknown to the English (we were the first English to stay here) itā€™s well worth a visit. The hosts are very welcoming and speak English. The facilities are superb - we just wish we could have stayed longer!"

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Auzers?
The best area to stay in Auzers is directly in the village centre, as Auzers is a small, traditional French village.

The village centre is concentrated around the ChĆ¢teau d'Auzers, a historic castle that forms the heart of the community. Accommodation options here are typically guesthouses or converted farmhouses, offering a genuine experience of rural Auvergne. You'll find a few local amenities within easy walking distance.

For couples seeking a quiet and romantic escape, staying in the village centre is ideal. You'll be close to the historic chĆ¢teau for visits and can enjoy peaceful walks through the surrounding countryside. The focus here is on relaxation and experiencing the local way of life.

Families looking for a calm base for exploring the region will also find the village centre suitable. The lack of heavy traffic and the open spaces around the village make it a pleasant environment.
When is the best time to go to Auzers?
The best time to go to Auzers is during the warmer months, specifically from late spring through early autumn, which is May to September.

This period offers pleasant weather for exploring the natural beauty of the Auvergne region. You'll find the countryside green and lush, with wildflowers in bloom, and temperatures are generally comfortable for outdoor activities like hiking and visiting local villages. It's also when most local attractions and businesses are fully open and operating.

For those who enjoy outdoor adventures, July and August are ideal. The weather is typically at its warmest and sunniest, superb for long walks in the Cantal mountains, exploring the Puy Mary, or enjoying the many lakes and rivers for activities like fishing or kayaking. Families often find these months the most convenient for holidays, aligning with school breaks.

Couples looking for a more peaceful experience might prefer May, June, or September. The weather is still excellent, but there are fewer visitors, allowing for a more relaxed exploration of the area's historic sites, such as the ChĆ¢teau d'Auzers, and its quaint villages.
