There is plenty to do and do in Nuevo Arenal. Walking, riding, cycling, yoga, spotting among others exotic birds and monkeys. The Arenal lake is a beautiful place for various water sports or just to de-stress and enjoy the scenery or a picnic. The distance from Casa Las 3 Rocas to the Lake Arenal and town is approximately 4.5 km/2.8 miles.
The Arenal Volcano National Park is 35 km from Nuevo Arenal and near the town of La Fortuna with hot springs and geysers.
The best restaurants in Costa Rica are in the immediate vicinity: the Gingerbread Fine Restaurant and the Las Tinajas Restaurant. But also pizzas and Italian dishes at Los Platillos Voladores, delicious German delicacies at the German Bakery Tom’s Pan and at Moya's Place you will find a nice selection of pizzas, wraps and other dishes. The so-called 'sodas' have affordable dishes such as Gallo Pinto (rice with beans), casado (rice, beans combined with meat, chicken or fish), arroz con pollo (rice with chicken). Sodas are lunchrooms in Costa Rican style.
Nearby a town with supermarkets, small shops, banks, a health center and pharmacies.
There are 2 airports: San Jose: 165 km driving distance and Liberia: 100 km driving distance.
Costa Rica has the dry and green season. Average annual temperature: 26 degrees Celsius. The nights can feel fresh.

Home away from home

We thoroughly enjoyed our peaceful stay in this comfortable house. It had a comfortable bed, good shower, and very adequate kitchen. Rudy and Petra were excellent hosts. The wash machine was the very best so far on our long journey. The house was just a very short distance to shops and restaurants. We would recommend this house to others wanting to stay in this beautiful area.

Casa tres las rocas

This is a perfect place to stay extended or a few nights. Loved the yard. The washer is a big plus. And it's a few minutes to town. Rudy and Petra are responsive with any concerns. And they're just nice people. Overall one of the better stays we've had. Thank you so much. We will be back. PS. The king size bed was amazing. Such a treat.

Great little spot

This casita is in a wonderful location of Lake Arenal and surrounding area - just a little under 5 km outside of Nueva Arenal. The accommodations were welcoming and personal, and the communication with Petra and Rudy was excellent. They left fruit, beer and wine as a welcome. We were lucky enough to be there when the fiber-optic was installed, so TV and WiFi became a game changer.

Lovely little house

Rudy and Petra were the perfect hosts. Nothing was too much trouble and they were quick to respond to anything I asked of them. Everything needed was in the property, they even stocked the fridge and cupboards with essentials (including wine). I highly recommend this property.

A great rural casita outside Nuevo Arenal

This nicely furnished, affordable, secure two bedroom casita has everything you will need. Our hosts, Rudy and Petra even left us food, beer and wine! They were very helpful by making recommendations about the area and telling us about some cool places to go ( like nearby Lake Cote, which was visited by a UFO in 1971). We watched monkeys and tropical birds from the front porch and our dogs got to swim at the nearby city park on the lake. Fiber optic Internet is ordered and may be installed in the area by April. That will make this casita a high tech haven. Recommended!

Great hospitality!

Most memorable for our stay at Casa Las 3 Rocas: - the helpfulness, friendliness and hospitality of our hosts, Petra and Rudy - we felt safe, secure and comfortable - a car is a must-have - the near-by restaurants, especially The Lucky Bug, and Las Tinajas Restaurant (thanks for the dinner treat, P & R!) - missed having a TV, especially on rainy days - a DVD player would have helped. - having to travel into town for WiFi access was a minor inconvenience All in all, well worth the price.

Awesome stay in Nuevo arenal

Super friendly owners Awesome comfy house Very clean - and we even had welcome fruit basket, coffee, sugar, and oil For cooking.. Super quiet neighbour hood- great sleep. Definitely will go back Also very reasonable pricing.

Peaceful and comfortable

We had a wonderful stay at Petra's place. The location was ideal for us since it is just slightly out of town. Even though it is near the road it is very peaceful and the road makes it easy to find. The house was clean and comfortable and we loved seeing the oropendulas (a bird with a lovely song and yellow tail) in the morning. Petra helped us to get WiFi as well. Would absolutely return!

Modern-Style Chalet

Very clean and well equiped house with good beds. The hosts were absolutly friendly and helpful. You should have a rental car, 'cause it's a bit outside of Nuevo Arenal, but with a car it is a very good starting point. We did several trips and nice tours from there. We had a good time at the house and there were fresh fruits and cool drinks for us when we arrived.

We enjoyed our stat at Las 3 Rocas - the property was a good size and comfortable for our 3 day stay. We were able to use the spot as a home base between activities at Tenorio National Park and La Fortuna.

Wow, what an amazing place!

Both cottage and surroundings. Intensely beautiful jungle sounds and everything we needed for household goods were present. It is indeed a cozy and warm cottage with beautiful porcelain floors and elements of wood. We have only been there a few days because we were in transit, but we loved the little town Nueva Arenal for groceries and the local fare. For breakfast or lunch just go to the left for Lucky Bug or to the right for El Establo. All the recommendations for eating out were exceptionally good. Especially easy was that the cottage is easily accessible by car. In the area is a lot to visit and to do. It was a nice combination of activity and rest. Thanks Petra, you made our short stay phenomenal. Hope to stay with you again in the future and we recommend this place to everyone. Did meet all our expectations!
