The best time to go to Amsterdam is during the spring (April to May) or autumn (September to November) for pleasant weather and fewer crowds.Spring in Amsterdam offers comfortable temperatures, typically ranging from 10°C to 18°C, and the city's parks and gardens begin to bloom. This is an excellent time for couples who enjoy exploring the city on foot or by bicycle, with the canals looking particularly picturesque. The famous tulip fields are also in full bloom during April and early May, making for beautiful day trips just outside the city.Autumn provides a similar experience with mild temperatures, usually between 10°C and 15°C, and the added beauty of changing leaf colours along the canals. This season is ideal for solo travellers who appreciate a relaxed pace, visiting museums like the Rijksmuseum without the peak summer queues, and enjoying the cosy atmosphere of the city's cafes. The cultural calendar also tends to be quite active during these months, with various festivals and events. While summer (June to August) is also popular, it can be quite busy and more expensive. Winter (December to March) is colder, but the city can be charming around the Christmas period, with ice skating rinks and festive markets.
