The port itself is a landmark, providing a constant buzz of maritime activity.Couples often find this area ideal for a romantic trip. The evenings offer lovely strolls along the Lungomare, with many trattorias serving local cuisine. The best time to visit Zona Portuale, and indeed most of Sicily, is during the shoulder seasons of April to June and September to October. These months offer pleasant weather, with warm but not excessively hot temperatures, making it ideal for exploring the historic sites and enjoying the coastal scenery. You'll find fewer crowds compared to the peak summer months, and prices for flights and accommodation are generally more favourable. This is superb for couples looking for a romantic getaway without the hustle and bustle. If you're planning a family holiday, early September is a particularly good choice. The sea is still warm enough for swimming, and the main school holidays have ended, meaning beaches and attractions are less crowded.
