There is a gorgeous and #colorful sunflower field out by the airport. Most people either don't know that it exists, or unaware that you can literally stop and explore it at your leisure. 
 
Sunflowers extend as far as the eye an see.
Take the Pena Blvd exit to the airport, take the exit to 56th Ave, turn right on 56th ave and go about 5 or 6 miles past the 470 intersection. 
It will be on your right side of the road. Shortly after the sunflower field is next to you, there will be a dirt road off to your right. Take that and park anywhere. 
There aren't any "No Trespassing" signs or anything.

« We have stayed here a few other times. Its close to family which is fantastic. Its just a bit outside of downtown Denver and if you are ambitious you can walk there. The neighborhood is very walkable, i go everywhere on foot. There are 2 groceries 10 to 15 minutes walking distance. Yoga, coffee shops, parks, indie restaurants and boutiques all 1 to 15 minutes walking. The bus line is just up the street. You can just park it and go on little adventures from this sweet little home base.They...
