We rented this property for three nights for my son's college graduation. The house is in a beautiful neighborhood and is very spacious. However, upon entering we noticed a strong gas smell. We contacted our host and they responded immediately. An inspector found several gas leaks and deemed the house dangerous and told us to evacuate. Our host refunded our stay immediately. The problem after that was VRBO, who put us up in a hotel one night, but left us stranded for the remaining two nights after repeatedly assuring us someone from rebooking would be in contact with us with alternative sites for us to stay in. I spent hours on the phone with various representatives from VRBO, all of whom assured me someone would be in touch "very shortly." They never got in touch. So much unnecessary stress and time spent that could have been avoided had VRBO done what they assured me they would. Ultimately, I found our group of six a place to stay. I was also assured VRBO would reimburse me for our hotel stay, which was not convenient and quite expensive since it was so last minute. They have since ghosted me. I'm continuing to pursue this matter with VRBO.
