"What a superb little place, not so little as the dog and I had the house to ourselves. If you want something which is quiet, safe, typically French and within a 10 minute walk of a fab bistro in the village then this is for you. Host was superb, great communication and attention. Would highly recommend as a pit stop if driving from UK to Spain."

"Such a tranquil and beautiful place. We had the best night’s sleep for ages because the cave was cool and the air was kept humid to protect the stone. Céline and Stève were lovely - so welcoming. Stève gave us the fascinating history of the place and in the morning Céline had prepared the most delicious home-made breakfast which we ate in the peaceful pretty garden courtyard in front of our cave. Les Troglos is a gem and our stresses melted away."

"It’s an old building… with an overgrown garden like an haunted mansion. First impression was to run… seemed like a horror movie set. Old furniture with dantesque paintings in this dark manor. BUT… we stayed as was only a motorway stop. Dinner was in the middle of the garden… and food was AMAZING. Room was super specious and super clean… with all the accessories. Breakfast was generous and well presented in a room from 1830!! Great value for money… and super well connected to lovely locations...

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Vou?
The best area to stay in Vou is the heart of the village, particularly around the church and the main square.

This central area offers the most convenience and a pleasant village experience. You'll find a few local shops, a bakery, and places to eat within easy walking distance. The streets here are generally quiet and well-maintained, providing a relaxing atmosphere. The village itself is quite compact, so staying centrally means you're never far from anything.

For couples looking for a peaceful getaway, staying in a guesthouse or a small hotel within the village centre is ideal. You can enjoy strolls through the village, visit the local church, and experience the slow pace of rural French life.
When is the best time to go to Vou?
The best time to visit Vou is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) months, when the weather is mild and pleasant, great for exploring the Loire Valley.

During spring, the countryside around Vou bursts into bloom, and the vineyards begin to green. Temperatures are comfortable, typically ranging from 12°C to 20°C, making it ideal for cycling along the Loire à Vélo route or visiting châteaux without the larger summer crowds. You'll find a relaxed atmosphere, and many local markets start to offer fresh produce.

Autumn also offers excellent conditions, with temperatures usually between 10°C and 18°C. This is harvest season in the vineyards, which can be a fascinating time to visit local wineries and sample new vintages. The changing colours of the leaves along the Loire River create picturesque landscapes, great for photography and leisurely walks.

While summer (July and August) is popular, it can be quite warm, with temperatures often exceeding 25°C, and attractions tend to be busier.
