Visit the museum, art gallery, the Volcano House overlooking Hale'mau'mau crater. Take a stroll or a day hike in this vast and beautiful land of Pele. Pele's Secret Garden is in a great and safe location for exploring the east side of the island. Nestled in the heart of the Big Island's oldest Volcanic Rain-forest, and atop world's most active lava field, lies our luxury hideaway of rest, peace and comfort. Two miles from the National Park entrance. Driving distance from Kona Airport, with no stops, is approximately 2.5 to 3.0 hours; whereas from the Hilo Airport is approximately 45 minutes to our driveway; and another 5-minutes drive to Volcano Village proper, depending on weather conditions. \~ About the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park \~ Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, established in 1916, displays the results of 70 million years of volcanism, migration, and evolution -- processes that thrust a bare land from the sea and clothed it with complex and unique ecosystems and a distinct human culture. Very convenient to stores, restaurants, and Volcanoes Park. Peggy was a great host with coffee provided, plenty of kitchenwares, towels, and blankets. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed staying at Pele's Secret Garden. The house was clean and had everything we needed for our three night stay. The setting is very peaceful and we loved the beautiful garden. It was easy to get to Volcanoes National Park and nearby restaurants. We would definitely stay again. ##### Sandy P. With all the of the windows we felt completely immersed in the rainforest yet were cozy and warm with a fire each night. We didn't even need to leave the house for birdwatching. Morning coffee on the lanai was a pleasure, soaking in the peace and quiet. It was as comfortable as staying at your best friends' home. Peggy was easy to communicate with and treats her guests well. All four of us were very impressed with the TLC the owner gives her property. Such a beautiful home in the rain forest close to Volcano National Park and the village of Volcano. It was great for easy access to Volcano Village and the national park. The house is beautiful and very comfortable for our family of 4\.
