A marvellous ‘mansarda’ apartment with a wonderful ‘altana’ rooftop terrace offering exceptional views in the heart of Castello. Moments on foot to the landmark leaning bell-tower of San Giorgio Dei Greci and to the 'Questura' office of Donna Leon's fictional crime-busting Commissario Guido Brunetti on the ‘Rio di San Lorenzo’ canal, Ca’ Del Pittore offers captivating and highly individual roof-space surroundings for up to four guests on the very top floor.   
  
Trendy sister property to VOV’s supremely elegant Ca' Dei Greci (sleeping eight) in the same building and within easy walking distance of all the must-see sights of St. Mark’s Square (including the Basilica, Doge’s Palace and the Clock Tower) yet away from the hustle and bustle,the apartment has an entrance area and a staircase leading up to a large main living space made cosy and characterful thanks to the preservation of its magnificently rustic roof and wall timbers, wooden plank flooring, attractive ‘sunken’ seating area and eclectic choice of furnishings.   
  
This main room leads via an arched glazed doorway surrounded by pretty conservatory-style trompe de l’oeil decoration, to a bright and fully-equipped west-facing kitchen enjoying fabulous views from its two rear windows.   
  
There are two double bedrooms, one on either side of the apartment - a light and airy double with splendid beams, built in wardrobes and a double bed, and a similarly beamed twin with two singles - a handy walk-in closet plus two stylish bathrooms - one with a small bath and chequerboard flooring and another with w.c. and wash hand basin.   
  
Air-conditioning, a washing machine and internet connection further transform Ca’ Del Pittore into a comfy, practical and convenient choice whatever the season or duration of your stay, while a short staircase from the living area rises to the furnished ‘altana’ terrace boasting breathtaking ‘never to be forgotten’ vistas over Venice, taking in the churches of San Francesco Della Vigna and San Giorgio Maggiore in the distance and the onion domes and bell-tower of St. Mark’s soaring above a superabundance of terracotta rooftops.

An impressive conversion in a fabulous spot, furnished by its Venice-loving owners.   
  
A short walk to the atmospheric Scuola di San Giorgio degli Schiavoni and its wonderful Carpaccio paintings, the monumental Dominican Basilica di Santi Giovanni e Paolo (one of the largest churches in Venice and burial place of no fewer than 25 Venetian Doges), and to Campo Santa Maria Formosa (site of the Querini Stampalia) passing Palazzo Grimani on the way.   
  
And even closer to home - moments to the cavernous and newly restored Church of San Lorenzo (long closed but now home to Ocean Space - a collaborative platform focusing on ocean conservation) and to the Museo di Dipinti Sacri Byzanti (Museum of Icons) just along the canal.   
  
Also within easy reach of the local Punto supermarket for easy self-catering and to the vaporetto (water bus) stop at San Zaccaria on the Riva Degli Schiavoni waterfront.   
  
Important: please note that the apartment only accepts fully supervised children over 6 years of age or under 1 year (non-walking babies) because of the internal stairs, ‘altana’ rooftop terrace and low windows.

For arrivals between 8.00 p.m. and midnight there is an additional cost for "late arrival" of Euro 50, to be paid in cash upon arrival. We organize arrivals between midnight and one o'clock with an additional cost of Euro 100, after this time we reserve the right to accept the customer always with a supplement to be quantified according to the time of arrival.   
  
Beds will be arranged as either doubles or twins as shown in the photos. The possibility of turning a double bed into twins or vice versa can be found in the description and must be requested at least 7 days before arrival.

#### Clean, beautiful apartment in a quiet part of Venice

Perfect apartments (we rented out the 2nd and 3rd floors). Clean, good A/C for our 90 degree days, quiet street with great views. Marco was oustanding communicating before our arrival and helped arrange several private taxis during our stay. My whole family loved our stay.

A great apartment in the heath of Venice. Obviously, you have to adapt to the Venetian character of the buildings but it's marvelous. Full equipped and very comfortable spaces (and beds)

#### Unique but amazing apartment with great view. 

I loved our stay here as it was in a great location and the staff were extremely responsive. They were amazing at arranging our check in and departure and it ran so smoothly. The deck could use some new (sturdier) furniture but it was a beautiful place to hang out and see view. I would absolutely stay here again.

This was a very, very nice place to stay in a perfect location in Venice - we were close to tourist locations and the Biennale but also nicely in a neighborhood. For a longer-term stay, we really liked this. There was great service checking in and locating us, and close-by groceries, etc. Gorgeous roof deck, great a/c in a hot stretch. Laundry, atmospheric living room, altogether great.

#### Beautiful apartment in a perfect part of town

My wife, daughter, and I stayed between Christmas and New Year's — a perfect time to be in Venice! This apartment was the perfect fit, with a charming, unique layout and a location just enough off the tourist path to be very quiet (while not being too far from San Marco and the vaporetto). Come to Venice in winter, without the crowds; stay in a beautiful place like this to enjoy quiet Castello and have easy access to everywhere else!

#### Lovely stay…easy access to everywhere

Nice property on the third floor ( no lift, but you get fit..) Hosts - Views on Venice were great and organised anything needed. The property had a few interesting plumbing quirks and the air conditioning in the bedrooms is not up to much tbh…but it is a lovely place to stay, would recommend.

A quirky spacious apartment that was perfect for our family of four. Nice and light, clean, gorgeous views from the roof terrace. Well located. The roof terrace would benefit from some attention. Guests should be aware there is a steep internal staircase down to the shower room.

#### Beautiful stay with the perfect venetian vibe

I can't say enough about this property! it was extremely charming, clean and quaint with just the perfect amount of Venetian vibe we were looking for. The communication from booking to arriving was prompt and professional. Special shout outs to Rossana for booking all our water taxis and making sure they all went off without a hitch and Amir for welcoming us with a big smile and even helping us with our bags up the many flights of stairs. This property is a 10 out of 10

#### Thank you for an amazing time on Venice.

Venice was amazing The location was perfect - we were able to easily wander wherever we chose, close to San Marc's yet also close to cafe's for local inhabitants, so the best of both worlds. I loved sitting up on the rooftop balcony - the whole apartment made us feel right at home. The guidebook was also very useful and detailed. Clearer instructions on how to set the hot water without turning on the heater/radiators.

#### A treat for Venice-lovers

The atmosphere, the view and the location. Very atmospheric space, books, and fantastic views not only from the terrace, but also from the two bedrooms and from the kitchen, which becomes instantly the center of the house. And prime location, although well off the crowds. Enrica was very helpful with check-in, and provided great advice to help us make the best of our week in Venice. It serves to be aware of housing conditions in Venice. Here, 60 steps to climb, fairly tight shower down a flight of stairs, and quirky guest toilet. Obviously, this is the price to pay to feel immediately like a local!

#### Best place we have ever stayed!

Everything about this flat is wonderful. The flat itself is beautiful, spacious and comfortable, with kitchen and bathrooms well stocked and everything you need working perfectly. The roof top terrace is out of this world - stunning views over to St Marks, San Giorgio, San Zanipolo and all around. The location is just perfect, on a gorgeous canal just across from the Greek bridge/church, with some lovely restaurants, ice cream and mask shops nearby (very friendly, helpful staff, with great quality items). It is away from the bustle of crowds, but only a ten-minute walk to St Marks and to the water front. Easy also to get up to Fundament Nuove for the vaporetto over to Murano etc. And the best running route in Venice for joggers out east along the water front and to the Biennale area and gardens beyond. We could not praise it highly enough. And the company who manage the flat have been so helpful right from the moment of booking, keeping in regular touch over payments, directions and other advice - and they were very kind about looking after our luggage on our final day, so that we could do some final exploring before heading to the airport. We will definitely book again, and we will also use the same company for booking if we ever go to Rome or Milan where they also have property. Don't hesitate to book this gorgeous flat - it is worth every penny/cent!

#### Great location, as advertised

The location of this apartment was exactly what we were hoping for; away from the hustle & bustle of tourism yet close enough to walk. The online pics and description are accurate. Our private water taxi during arrival/departure provided front door service and was arranged for us which was wonderful and I highly recommend. Marco greeted us and accompanied us to the apartment. He was attentive and spent a lot of time detailing important areas on the map. His recommendations were greatly appreciated! The apartment is comfortable but definitely not luxury. It's quiet, very unique with a lot of character and met all our needs. The lack of a lift isn't unusual in Venice and wasn't an issue for us but is worth noting. The staircase, with 60 stairs, is wide leading to the apartment which is very helpful. The apartment is in the attic space of the building so there's an interesting combination of stairs throughout and the second bathroom sink/toilet is in a separate location, down a flight of stairs from the sink/shower. We found this configuration to be charming and adds to the Venetian ambiance. I would recommend this apartment to others.

The views from the rooftop terrace were incredible, and the bedrooms, bathrooms, and kitchen layout could not be better for a family — my boys and I loved it. The beautiful wooden beams also make the living room layout a little strange, but charming nonetheless!

#### Wonderful place with tons of room and the most helpful friendly host

This place was an amazing setting in the heart of Venice. Easy to find, close to coffee shop, and we could take our water boat right up to the front door.

#### Fantastic apartment

Fantastic apartment for two couples. The location was very nice in a quiet area of Venice but close to local restaurants. Additionally, the location was only a short walk to major tourist attractions. The roof terrace makes the place even more special. I can't say enough about the apartment. The hosts made the experience even better by providing water taxi access to the front door. Highly recommended.
